The castello degli schiavi nested in the Sicilian country side was used in all the three movies directed by Francis Ford Coppola, this is were Apollonia explods with the car in one of the most iconic scene of the godfather part one. We will visit Michael Corleone palace, escorted by the owner who was present during the filming of the 1974 masterpiece, and we will watch some scenes filmed inside this historical sicilian palace. Our tour include a visit to "Castello degli schiavi " the movie location used as the Corleone family Palace. Most company do not visit it because they have to pay to enter it.

Which movie location we will visit?

We visit the Corleone family palace, than we stop at the train station used in the god father part III and finaly we go for a walking tour of Savoca to visit the bar vitelli but also to visit a Sicilian mountain village.

How many people will it be in this tour?

Free time for a “ granita ” in the Bar Vitelli then we walk to the Chiesa Madre where the scene of the wedding between Apollonia and Michael was shot with its fine 16C portal surmounted by a beautifully carved oculus and the coat of arms of Savoca, bearing the elderberry branch from which the name of the town is supposed to derive.

The tour will continue to Taormina the ancient Taurominum , is a spot of infinite loveliness, the land of “ Dolce far niente” – of sweet do nothing. The town lies in an elevated position of amazing, almost unique beauty, affording magnificent views combining sea and sky of a marvelous blue, miles of a curving coastline and picturesque mountain scenery, while the majestic pyramid of Mt. Etna on one side constitutes a scene of indescribable beauty.

We will visit together the Piazza Belvedere (Lookout square) where you will have a breathtaking view of Isolabella (Beautiful island) and the Messina coast line . Upon arrival in Taormina you will have your free time to admire the cathedral. The imposing medieval building was erected in the thirteenth century on the ruins of a church dedicated to St. Nicholas of Bari , the Greek Theatre from the 2nd century A.D. – Palazzo Corvaja and Corso Umberto where you can do excellent shopping .

The Godfather Tour begins with the pick up from your hotel. After about 30 minutes driving with a private air-conditioned car you will reach Savoca , one of the most picturesque medieval villages in Sicily, inserted in the circuit of the most beautiful villages in Italy since 2008. This delightful city of Art has been chosen as a set for several very important films, including “the Godfather”, directed by Francis Ford Coppola .

We will immediately stumble across the first structure left intact from 1972: The Bar Vitelli (Trimarchi Palace), where Michael Corleone asked Apollonia's father her hand in marriage and informed him that his name was Michael Corleone, and that "some people would pay a of lot money for that information, but then your daughter would lose a father, instead of gaining a husband."

The Second location is the Church of St. Nicholas where Michael and Apollonia were married kneeling in the doorway.

Enjoy free time to explore Savoca at your leisure, perhaps even to have a snack or drink (own expense) at the Bar Vitelli, before boarding the car again to go to Forzà d'Agrò.

Forza d’Agrò is a charming medieval town with spectacular views of the coast, also used as a backdrop for filming of the Godfather movies. Here you will find the church where young Vito Andolini (later Vito Corleone) escaped Don Ciccio's men by hiding in a basket on a donkey's back.

Here, too, you will have some time to explore the town on your own before getting back on the car for the trip back to your starting point.

If you're a fan of The Godfather saga, this tour is a must!  Follow in the footsteps of director Francis Ford Coppola as you travel through the towns of Savoca and Forza d'Agrò, visiting the set locations of this true cinematic masterpiece.

At 8:30 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Catania and hop on a minibus to go and discover the set locations from the filming of The Godfather .

After an hour's drive, we'll arrive in the beautiful medieval town of Savoca , where we'll take you on a guided tour of the historic center. You'll see the Church of St. Nicholas, which was the location of Michael and Apollonia's wedding , as well as visit Bar Vitelli , where you can sit in the same chair as Al Pacino. The bar has hardly changed in 40 years!

During the tour of Savoca, we'll also visit a viewpoint that pays homage to the director Francis Ford Coppola with a curious sculpture. This monument with the Ionian Sea in the background makes for an unforgettable view! 

Next, we'll visit the town of  Forza d'Agrò . When we get there, we'll walk through the town's historic centre and admire monuments like the Church of the Holy Trinity and the Church of the Annunciation , which appeared in the second and third installments of The Godfather . In fact, this town was the location used to recreate Michael Corleone's hometown !

Our final stop will be in  Taormina , where you'll have around 1 hour 30 minutes of free time to eat some lunch. You can also make the most of this time to stroll through its beautiful historic centre . Palazzo Corvaja, the Clock Tower, the Ancient Theatre, the Cathedral and more await!
