The Brighton band announced the news on Instagram earlier today (October 16), confirming that they will be hitting the road for a series of live shows in 2024.

Kicking off in February, the tour will comprise of six shows across the UK and run throughout the month. This will start with an opening night at Manchester’s Albert Hall venue on February 9, and continue the following day with a stop at Birmingham’s Town Hall.

From there, a date in Glasgow is set for February 11, followed by a stop at Sheffield’s historic Leadmill venue two days later and a gig in Bristol later that week (February 15). The tour will wrap up on February 16 with a show at the Islington Assembly Hall in London.

As announced in the Instagram post, tickets for the upcoming tour dates go on sale this Friday (October 20) and will be available here .

The tour comes as a celebration of the band’s third studio album, ‘Do You Like Rock Music?’, which was released back in 2008 and earned the band a Mercury nomination.

At the time of its release, NME gave the album a four-star review , and described it as “a gloomily anthemic collection of songs that owe less to the bands BSP are most often compared to – Joy Division and The Cure – and more to the transatlantic likes of Arcade Fire and Interpol.”

“‘Do You Like Rock Music?’ might be fashionably rough around all the right edges, but there’s definitely still enough lyrical wit and musical beauty contained herein to warrant your attention,” it added.

The 2024 tour will celebrate 15 years since the LP was released and is expected to see the band revisit many of the album’s songs.

Notably, in the time since they released the 2008 album, the band have gone on to alter their name, changing from ‘British Sea Power’ to ‘Sea Power’.

Scott Wilkinson a.k.a Yan of British Sea Power performs at Zavvi on January 7, 2008

The members found themselves wanting to drop the word ‘British’ from their moniker due to misapprehensions from nationalists. The new name was introduced at the beginning of 2022.

“It just felt like a bit of a weird thing… that was colouring the meaning of songs and the world of our band in general,” frontman Scott ‘Yan’ Wilkinson told NME , discussing the change. “It always was a slightly complicated name, in a way, but it was meant to be something you’d maybe think about, find fun and discuss, and the current climate just isn’t good for things like that. There isn’t open discussion and stuff. It’s just people arguing, not listening and being weird.”

Since the transition into the name Sea Power, the band went on to release their latest album ‘Everything Was Forever’ last February. Following its release, the LP went on to receive a four-star review from NME and put the band in a very close race to get their first UK Number One album .

Back in 2019, the band also launched the debut edition of their annual Cumbrian festival, Krankenhaus.

Megan Moroney Announces “Am I Okay?” Tour: “It’s Going to Be A Very Magical Year”

Erinn Callahan

Updated:

Megan Moroney was still an unsigned artist when her single, “Tennessee Orange,” caught fire in late 2022. It’s only been up from there, with the “No Caller ID” singer taking home the ACM Award for New Female Artist of the Year in 2023. Now fresh off a summer on the road with Kenny Chesney , Moroney has announced her own headlining tour.

Videos by American Songwriter

Megan moroney is ready to hit some “bucket list venues”.

Named for her sophomore album , the Am I Okay? Tour kicks off March 20, 2025, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Fans can head to meganmoroney.com to sign up for the artist pre-sale, which begins Thursday (Sept. 12) at 10 a.m. Central. The rest of the tickets go on sale Friday (Sept. 13) at 10 a.m. Central.

“i get to play some of my bucket list venues & it’s going to be a very blue very magical year on the road,” Megan Moroney wrote on social media Tuesday (Sept. 10.)

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Megan Moroney (@megmoroney)

“i’m already counting down the days until i get to see your faces & all of your ‘homemade tshirts & homemade signs,’” continued the “Girl in the Mirror” singer. “i know i’ve said it a lot but thank you for making all of my dreams come true – just over the mooooooon that i get to do this.”

Am I Okay?, the follow-up to Moroney’s 2023 debut Lucky , dropped to much fanfare in July. The 26-year-old Georgia native stays true to her “emo cowgirl” reputation while letting a few glimmers of hope peek through the gloom. I think I’m really happy / I think I wanna stay / Oh my God, am I okay? she sings on the title track.

Is a New Single on the Way?

Lest fans worry that Megan Moroney is shedding her “emo cowgirl” image, the country star recently teased an unreleased track destined for break-up playlists everywhere.

“sooooo yeah the third time was in fact not the charm,” Moroney captioned the Sept. 4 social media post.

The familiar lilt of disappointment has crept into the “Indifferent” singer’s vocals: You swore up and down that you loved me to death / Now, we’re in my driveway, and I’m now your ex / ‘Cause I’m way too much and you need something less .

“Pls release this I need it as my breakup anthem,” one fan commented.

Sea Power announce a new album, new band name and new tour

Sea Power announce a new album, new band name and new tour 3

Today, the ensemble now known as Sea Power have announced new tour dates for April, 2022, including shows in London, Bristol and Manchester. Tickets are on sale from 9am on Friday 3 rd  September.   The tour will follow the release of Sea Power’s first new album in five years –  Everything Was Forever , set for release on 11 February 2022. To go with this new album, the band are truncating their name to Sea Power. More information below.   Everything Was Forever  is heralded by the new single “Two Fingers”, one of many highlights from the album. “Two Fingers” is a potential anthem for these troubled times. The words take in mortality, defiance, HP Lovecraft and V signs. The song’s chorus centres on the gesticulation that can signal both contempt (f*** you) and resolution (V for victory). Here’s a rock song that seems to send a righteous F U to sundry self-serving figureheads of this era – but which also rides forth with hope and oppositional vigour.   The single was given its premiere today by Shaun Keaveny on BBC 6Music, where it is also his ‘Liked & Shared’ feature track all week long. The song has now been added to the B-list on BBC 6 Music.   “The song is part inspired by our late dad,”  says co-frontman Jan.  “He was always giving a two-fingered salute to people on the telly – a kind of old-fashioned drinking term, toasting people or events: ‘I’ll drink two fingers to that’, to some news item or to memories of a childhood friend. In the song it’s a toast to everyone, remembering those in our lives and those sadly no longer here and to making the world a better place. The song is ‘F*** me, f*** you, f*** everything.’ But it’s also ‘Love me, love you, love everything’ – exultation in the darkness. If you say ‘f*** you’ in the right way, it really can be cathartic, a new start.”

More about the name change to Sea Power and new single “Two Fingers”

The band occupy a fascinating position in 2021. Mercury-nominated. BAFTA-winning – for the soundtrack to the million-selling, multi-award-winning computer game Disco Elysium. Composing music for Football’s UEFA Champions League, They’ve been praised by heavyweight artists including David Bowie and Lou Reed. Their lyrics have become part of a permanent installation at London’s National Maritime Museum, alongside Shakespeare and Coleridge. When the band hosted their Krankenhaus festival in 2019, in a 12th-century castle in their native Lake District, the setting and bill were equally wondrous: Hannah Peel, Squid, Scafell Pike, Poet Laureate Simon Armitage, Snapped Ankles, eagle owls, Bo Ningen, Rozi Plain, steam-train excursions, snooker-star DJ Steve Davis and New Order’s Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert. Another factor for 2021 is the band’s new trading name…   The band have been thinking about changing their name for years now. It’s become clear that it’s possible to misapprehend the name British Sea Power as indicating nationalism of an insular, jingoistic nature. Twenty years on from their inception, Sea Power now sail forth, free of any national flag of convenience. The new band name is a modest gesture of separation from the wave of crass nationalism that has traversed our world recently. After all, this group have always been internationalist in outlook, as made clear in several songs, most notably Waving Flags, a hymn to pan-European congress. The name Sea Power is also a shorthand by which the band’s audience have long known the group.   Alongside the name change, the band would like to make it clear they deeply love the British Isles. They feel lucky to have been born and raised across these lands – in Cumbria, Yorkshire, London and Shropshire. The band members now live in Sussex, Cumbria and the Inner Hebrides.   Sea Power retain clear potency in 2021. Certainly, there are facets that make the “Two Fingers” single timely.   “It’s maybe interesting,”  says Jan,  “that the song mentions nightmare monsters from the world of HP Lovecraft. This song has been around a little while, partly because of the big interruption of Covid. Between the song being written and the album being finished, the TV series Lovecraft Country was broadcast – which took the supernatural Lovecraft and ran it alongside 1950s America and Lovecraft’s racism. He was a terrible racist, a white supremacist, which is why his world is there in the song, like anti-matter  – something full of horror and mankind at its worst. But, alongside the negative forces in the song, there’s also a strong hopeful intent, a desire to start anew. Beyond that, the track has influences that are just inspiring – David Lynch, Cold War Steve, the Sex Pistols, Joe Meek’s Telstar, the beauty of isolated landscapes.”   As the lyrics go: “Two fingers for the dead / Two fingers for the living / Two fingers for the world that we all live in”. Two fingers as dismissal. Two fingers as defiance. Because, reverse those f***-you fingers and they become a gesture of hope and redemption. Here is rock music made by people who know what it is to originate on one side of the tracks but also to have been given a chance. BSP’s two singers, brothers Jan and Hamilton, are emphatically products of Britain’s post-war welfare state and social housing. Their childhoods were a time of full grants – education free of financial equations. A time of free school dinners, a world where brave young footballers didn’t need to lobby for adequate nutrition for children. With Two Fingers, BSP damn the bad and say a prayer for the good.   Can rock music lift the mood, can rock music make things better? Maybe it can. Let’s travel in hope. And if you aren’t up for that, then, well, two fingers to you, too.

HAIM , made up of sisters Este, Danielle and Alana, is a straight-up rock and roll band, Known for their cheeky sense of humor— their 2022 tour was named “One More HAIM”— the group is just as critically acclaimed as they are popular. Pitchfork praised their 2021 album “Women In Music Pt. III,” calling it “Intimate, multidimensional, and wide-ranging.”

Gracie Abrams , the daughter of film director JJ Abrams and producer Katie McGrath, is a star in her own right. Her song “I miss you, I’m sorry” has upwards of 100 million streams on Spotify, she opened for Olivia Rodrigo on the 2022 “Sour Tour” and headlined her own tour this spring as well.
