Day 1 - Arrive in Hanoi

Upon arrival at Hanoi – Noi Bai airport, you will be met by a local guide and enjoy a private transfer to your hotel. Hanoi is Vietnam’s modern-day capital. Classic, colonial architecture, distinctive cuisine, and a millennium of history and culture give Hanoi her elegance.

The adventure begins tonight. Feel free to explore before your welcome meeting, but make sure you’re back in time to meet the group. After introductions, your tour host will review the details of your tour. After our meeting, we will enjoy a welcome dinner at the hotel restaurant.

Day 2 - Hanoi at a glance

Today we return to Hanoi to explore Hoa Lo Prison (Hanoi Hilton), visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and go on a cyclo tour of the Old Quarter. We will tour the museum of Hoa Lo Prison, referred to as Hanoi Hilton by American prisoners, to learn more about the Vietnam War. Most exhibits relate to the prison’s use up to the mid-1950s, focusing on the  Vietnamese struggle for independence from France. A gruesome relic is the ominous French guillotine, used to behead Vietnamese revolutionaries. There are also displays focusing on the American pilots who were incarcerated at Hoa Lo during the American War.

After the Prison, we will have a guided tour of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Visit the museum, Ho Chi Minh stilted house and learn about Ho Chi Minh’s life and political history.

Take a seat on a cyclo for a tour of Hanoi’s lively Old Quarter. Let the driver navigate through the bustling streets and start taking some photos or just use the tour to help get familiar with the area. Indulge your inner foodie with a street food tour through bustling Hanoi. Follow your guide through the back streets and markets of the city’s old quarter, sampling local fare along the way. Mingle with city natives and experienced street food artists alike, as you taste a variety of Hanoi faves like “nem ran” and “banh goi.” Stop at a streetside bar to savour a draft beer as Hanoians do. Cap off the tour at the Hanoi Food Culture restaurant and try the city’s signature specialty coffee.

Day 3 - Ha Long Bay Cruise

Around 09:00, take a 2.5-hour drive from Hanoi to Tuan Chau jetty for your Halong Overnight trip. Enjoy the UNESCO World Heritage site with a dense concentration of limestone islands, caves and grottos, and magnificent scenery. Ha Long Bay takes its name from legend as the place where dragons descended to protect the Vietnamese people from invasion. Thousands of limestone islands scattered across the emerald sea, covered in thick forest conceal hidden caves, and provide shelter for colourful floating fishing communities. This breathtaking geographical and cultural jewel, steeped in folklore, is Vietnam’s most iconic UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Upon arrival at the jetty, proceed with check-in formalities around noon before being welcomed aboard. You will be served lunch while cruising the tranquil waters and will have plenty of time to take in the magnificent seascape of Ha Long Bay. Depending on your cruise itinerary, you will be able to enjoy activities either this afternoon or the following morning to explore caves and grottos, visit pearl farms, or take in picturesque island beaches. Some cruises also include kayaking. After sunset, enjoy a Vietnamese cooking demonstration before enjoying a delicious dinner. At the end of the day set anchor for the night among the karst formations.

Day 4 - Halong - Hue

Enjoy an early lunch on board before returning to land and heading back to Hanoi to catch a short flight to Hue. A former imperial capital of Vietnam, this World Heritage-listed city boasts many architectural treasures; it was also the site of one of the Vietnam War’s most dramatic battles.

Day 5 - Hue's Forbidden Purple City

Set out on a guided tour of Hue’s imposing walled citadel, discovering lavish palaces, gardens, and courtyards. Day 6 - Hue - Danang - Hoi An

As we depart Hue, sit back and enjoy the scenic journey to Hoi An, via the Hai Van Pass, an incredibly scenic and mountainous stretch of highway with spectacular views of Lang Co Beach. Hoi An itself is a charming small town 30km (19 miles) south of Danang. We will take a walking tour of the ancient town and stop at local workshop to learn how to make a traditional lantern before checking into the hotel.

Day 7 - Hoi An walking tour

Take a walking tour of a Hoi An local market led by youths who have come to Oodles of Noodles to be trained in the culinary arts. This excursion will empower the kitchen youth to lead insider noodle tours in Hoi An. There are currently over 26 types of noodles in this city alone and we will go to the market with two students and their trainer, learn about the ingredients at the market, and do a tasting of the different noodles while supporting local small-business enterprises. We then pick the ingredients and return with our youth guides to the training kitchen, where you will learn to cook and prepare noodles. After we enjoy our noodles for lunch, we’ll watch a video and learn about the organization.

Today is a free day to take part in optional activities and enjoy the city. You may choose to explore My Son Temples or spend your day at the beach.

Day 9 - Hoi An - Danang - Saigon

After breakfast, we will depart to the airport for our short flight to Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon. Discover the city on a cyclo tour, taking in iconic sites like the Notre Dame Cathedral, the ornate Central Post Office and City Hall. You have the rest of the day to relax or further explore

Day 10 - Underground City & Modern Metropolis

Today enjoy a full-day sightseeing excursion of city and Cu Chi; synonymous with the Vietnam War and a testament to the determined spirit of the Vietnamese, the underground network of passages at Cu Chi is a fascinating day trip out of the city.

Work on the tunnels began during the war against the French in the 1940s and over the next 25 years as the conflict with America escalated, they were improved and expanded to create an underground city of meeting areas, storerooms, living quarters and much more. After 2-hour drive from Saigon, upon arrival, there is the option to go below the surface and visit sections of the tunnels first hand. The more adventurous may go deeper and your guide will be on hand to give guidance on the degree of expected difficulty. Return to city for lunch at a local restaurant. Starting the city tour with a visit to the historic former Presidential Palace. This landmark gained its place in history as the first North Vietnamese tanks passed by, signifying the end of the Vietnam War. Take a walk along Book Street, passing by the Notre Dame Cathedral, and stop by one of the local stands to purchase a Saigon postcard. Then visit the colonial-era Post Office, featuring classic Gothic, Renaissance, and French colonial designs. Take the opportunity to admire the stunning architecture of a bygone era and send a postcard to your family back home. (Remarks: Stamp and postcard are included). Next, either walk or drive to the War Remnants Museum, primarily focuses on the Vietnam War but also showcases exhibits dating back to the French colonialist period and the first Indochina War. For those who are not interested in war relics, the Fine Arts museum boasts a beautiful collection of ancient and modern art and sculptures. Return to the hotel or, if time permits, choose to be dropped off at Ben Thanh market for personal exploration and souvenir hunting.

Day 11 - Saigon - Phnom Penh

On arrival at Phnom Penh you will be met by your local guide and taken to your hotel.  Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 12 - Phnom Penh Full Day Tour

Depart early in the morning to visit The Royal Palace, built in 1866 by King Norodom. The Palace is made up from a number of structures within a pagoda-style compound, one of which is The Silver Pagoda. The Silver Pagoda takes its name from the 5,000+ silver tiles and the building itself holds a number of national treasures, perhaps most notably a life-sized gold Maitreya Buddha decorated with 9584 diamonds, weighing in at 90 kg and a small 17th century Emerald Buddha made from baccarat crystal.

Continue to visit the National Museum, a Khmer temple inspired by building that houses the world’s largest collection of Khmer art sculptures, ceramics and bronzes from different periods of Cambodian history. Over 5000 objects are on display, including Angkorian era statues, lingas and other artifacts, most notably the legendary statue of the ‘Leper King.’ While the emphasis is on Angkorian artifacts, there is also a good collection of pieces from later periods, including a special exhibition of post-Angkorian Buddha figures. Finish the morning with a local shopping experience at Toul Tom Pong Market (also the Russian Market), where you can find silk, silver and countless souvenirs. Lunch is at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, you can visit the Toul Sleng Genocide Museum and Cheung Ek During the Pol Pot regime, Toul Sleng, formerly a high school, was converted to a detention centre known as S21. After interrogation and often torture, prisoners were transferred to ‘Killing Fields’ where they were often tortured again and brutally killed. Visit Cheung Ek, it was a Chinese Cemetery before it became the Khmer Rouge’s best-known Killing Field. The remains of almost 9,000 bodies have been excavated from mass graves in this area. Today Cheung Ek is a Memorial site for Cambodians and visitors from all over the world to pay their respects for those lost. A memorial stupa has been erected and displays over 5,000 human skulls, bones and clothes of the victims. During the Khmer Rouge years, thousands of Cambodians were tortured and imprisoned in detention centers around the country; the visit is a profoundly moving but also depressing experience.

Day 14 - Full-Day Angkor Wat Tour

This morning, visit the monumental magnificence of Angkor Thom – the last capital of the great Khmer Empire. You will visit the sprawling Elephant Terrace, the Terrace of the Leper King and the enchanting Bayon. This 12th-century masterpiece lies at the very center of Angkor Thom City and is an archaeological wonder of symmetry and grandeur. The exterior gallery walls have extensive bas-reliefs but the main features are the towers, each with 3 or 4 gently smiling faces, over 200 in total. PJ de Beerski wrote of them; “godliness in the majesty and the size, mystery in the expression.”

Continue your exploration of the Angkor Temples at Ta Prohm, the temple that has been left largely in its natural state since its “re-discovery” by French explorers. Surrounded by jungle, its labyrinth of stone hallways is overgrown with the roots and limbs of massive banyan trees, which envelop the stone like tentacles. It is one of the largest temples at Angkor, dedicated to in 1186. Historians have noted its mystical charm. Lunch is at a local restaurant. After lunch, you will visit Angkor Wat, arguably the largest religious building in the world, with a volume of stone equaling that of the Cheops pyramid in Egypt. It is unlike all the other Khmer temples in that it faces west, and is inspired by 12th-century Hinduism. Its symmetrical towers are stylized on the modern Cambodian flag. Conceived by Suryavarman II, Angkor Wat took an estimated 30 years to build. It is generally believed to have been a funeral temple for the king. It has been occupied continuously by Buddhist monks and is well preserved. Intricate bas-reliefs surround Angkor Wat on four sides. Each tells a story but the most celebrated of these is the Churning of the Sea of Milk, which is located on the east wing, the guide will explain the mystical tale.

It is time to say good-bye to this fascinating destination and wonderful new friends.  After breakfast, the group will be transferred to the airport for your flight home.

• If the Guest decides to cancel the tour for any reason whatsoever then s/he shall give a written application to the Company within specified time limit along with original receipt issued by the Company. Such cancellation will attract cancellation charges stated hereunder.
• Cancellation charges will be calculated on gross tour cost and the cancellation charges shall depend on date of departure and date of cancellation
• Cancellation charges for any type of transport ticket are applicable as per the rules of the concerned authority.
• Air tickets issued on special fares are NON REFUNDABLE and Guest shall bear cancellation charges.
• Any refund payable to the Guest will be paid after the Company receives refund from the respective authorities. The Company deducts processing charges from the refund to be paid to the Guest.

Payment Terms

• Airlines/Room up-gradation and complimentary will not be entertained during the tour unless if specified at the time of booking.
• There is no refund for any services not utilized during the tour.
• Security deposit is required either in cash or credit card by hotels which is refundable provided no room incidentals are incurred. This security deposit is not included in this quote and must be paid by the guests/corporate directly to the hotel when checking in.
• Guests are advised not to keep valuables in the coach/vehicle while sightseeing. The Company shall not be responsible for loss of valuables from the coach / vehicle . If the coach / vehicle is accidentally or otherwise damaged by the Guest, s/he will be required to pay compensation for the same.
