We are ready to
welcome you back to Japan!
Thank you very much for waiting soooooo long to visit Japan again. Finally, Japan will reopen from 2022 June 10th, initially limited to visitors in escorted tours like our Japan tours.
Japan’s strict border controls eased from today. In regards to U.S. citizens with fully vaccinated (completed at least 3rd booster shot), "Arrival Testing is not required" and "Quarantine is not required." Japan has also simplified the required paperwork and the screening process, eliminating a lot of the paperwork to enter Japan.
The Japan Tourism Agency has announced guidelines to prevent the spread of infection and ensure safe travels for international travelers. It can be summarized as below.
Measures to prevent infection
★ Follow the Japanese rules. You need to wear a mask, disinfect your hands, avoid the “three Cs” (confined and enclosed spaces, crowded places, and close-contact settings) for maintaining physical distance, avoiding talking loudly and congregating.
★ Purchase private medical insurance that covers medical expenses related to COVID-19 infection and provides adequate coverage and service.
★ All travelers must apply for an entrance visa to Japan at the Consulate General of Japan in Honolulu or another local consulate or embassy.
★ All travelers must register in advance at Visit Japan Web.
★ All travelers have to use the Fast Track for a smooth entry into Japan.
★ Prepare the certificate of negative test result of COVID-19 test conducted within 72 hours before departure.
★ All travelers have to be on the same itinerary from entry into Japan to departure from Japan.
★ All travelers must agree that infractions may lead to them not being able to continue to participate in the tours. Even if you will not be able to continue the tour, Tohoku Travel Service will take care of you until you go back home.
★ Seat arrangements in restaurants and other establishments will be fixed to make it easier to identify close contacts.
For detailed information, please check the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan's web
< https://www.mofa.go.jp/ca/fna/page4e_001053.html >
Emergency measures, such as in the event of a visitor testing positive
★In the event of a positive case, the affected tour member should be promptly removed from the tour group and examined at a medical institution. It should be explained to other tour members that if they are not close contacts, they can continue with the tour.
★Tour guides should take appropriate measures to identify the range of persons in close contact with the affected tour member in the event of a positive outbreak.
Our requests during the tours
★Please measure your body temperature every morning and night time. Tour guides will ask you about your temperature every morning before the tour starts.
★Tour guides will kindly ask you to report any symptoms of COVID-19 infection including fever, respiratory symptoms, fatigue, etc.
★Please use the assigned seat that tour guides will assign for you to properly identify the persons who may have come into contact with the virus.
★Please follow the instructions or requests from your tour guides while traveling in Japan.
This summary was made with the latest information at this moment. We expect to update those information accordingly as new information and fixes are available.
*If you have any further requests or questions, please feel free to contact us.
We are looking forward to welcoming you again in Japan!

Tohoku has three great summer festivals called Nebuta Matsuri in Aomori, Akita Kanto in Akita, and Sendai Tanabata Matsuri in Sendai. Aside from festivals the Tohoku region has a long history involving many different samurai clans like the Date or Aizu. The region in the northeast part of Japan is called the Tohoku region. The land is vast and is made up of six prefectures. Tohoku is known for their mountainous areas, great summer festivals, and their coastal lines. Tohoku has a long history involving samurai. Aomori is famous for its Nebuta Matsuri, a giant lantern parade in August. Lake Towada is a caldera that is beautiful when the autumn leaves cover the area. Hirosaki is a culturally rich area with 7000 cherry blossom trees around its castle. Akita has the Kanto Matsuri, where long bamboo poles with dozens of paper lanterns are balanced by individuals. Kakunodate is has a samurai district with beautiful cherry blossom trees draped down the street. Hiraizumi is a place that once rivaled Kyoto is culture and splendor. Sendai was founded by the famed One Eyed Dragon, Date Masamune and is one of the largest cities in Japan. Matsushima Bay is one of “Japan’s Three Most Scenic Views.” Yamagata has three sacred mountains with shrines and is the place with the most self-mummified monks. Urabandai is littered with ponds and is a popular outdoor destination. Aizu Wakamatsu was the home of the powerful Aizu Clan. Please see below for tours that include Tohoku:
