A Complete Guide To St Kitts Nevis Carnival (Sugar Mas 53)

St Kitts Nevis Carnival

Looking to ring in the New Year at St Kitts-Nevis Carnival for 2024/2025? Here’s a total guide to Saint Kitts and Nevis Carnival aka Sugar Mas 53!

This article is sponsored by the Saint Kitts Tourism Authority & St Kitts-Nevis Carnival Commission but all thoughts, opinions are my own. All photo credit owed to St Kitts-Nevis Carnival Commission. This article contains affiliate links from which I earn a commission from with no extra cost to you.

Things To Remember for Sugar Mas 53

The National Jouvert takes place on December 26th, 2024 – Boxing Day Holiday. The Grand Parade takes place on January 1st, 2025 and January 2nd 2025 (Las Lap). The start of the season begins December 14th, 2024.

Once you fly into Saint Kitts for carnival (Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport-SKB), make sure to get a window seat because the views are just breathtaking.  As you descend, you’ll witness pastel colored houses peppered amongst mountainous, hilly green terrain topped every so gently by cloud cover. It is insanely gorgeous.

Recommended dates of travel can vary depending on your holiday schedule but in order to make the pivotal events you should plan to spend your Christmas and New Year holidays in Saint Kitts. (December 24th to January 3rd). I’ll also note that I witnessed a lot of families traveling to Saint Kitts and Nevis for carnival and just to escape cold temps.

Although, J’ouvert and the parade have a few days in between so you have options for travel for those who don’t want to give up their Christmas holidays. It’s recommended to buy your flights as early as they become available because this is also peak season for travel to Saint Kitts and Nevis. Flights from major U.S. cities can start from the mid 500’s.

The capital of Saint Kitts and Nevis is Basseterre; Saint Kitts and the isle of Nevis is considered a two-island nation. Mount Liamuiga is the highest point at 3, 972 feet.  The landscape is comprised of lush, mountainous terrain and the islands are famously known for the outlook where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Caribbean Sea. The currency used in Saint Kitts is XCD or the Eastern Caribbean Dollar; 1 USD = 2.70XCD.

History of Sugar Mas

According to Historic St. Kitts , the history of St Kitts Nevis Carnival dates back as far as the 1950’s with the establishment of a more organized parade/celebration in 1957. This looked like a timeline of carnival events including a Carnival Queen pageant, a Christmas tree lighting, a Calypso concert and a carnival dance held on January 1st, 1958. It’s encouraged to read the entirety of the Saint-Kitts Nevis carnival here to understand the evolution and sanctity of the cultural celebration. Sugar Mas is rich in cultural folklore also known as Christmas sport or street performers/performances ( moko jumbies, clowns, bulls and more ) played by locals during the season and everyone participates -from the very young to the very old.

The St Kitts Nevis Carnival is marked by a mix of music, pageantry, historic folklore, lively events and parties and so much more.

Where To Stay

Locals will recommend staying on Frigate Bay where a number of hotels and resorts are situated near the beaches, restaurants and more. Here are a few recommendations:

  • Royal St. Kitts Hotel
  • Saint Kitts Marriott Resort & The Royal Beach Casino
  • Marriot St. Kitts Beach Club
  • Sugar Bay Club Suites & Hotel

You can also opt for villas or airbnbs along Frigate Bay strip area .

I had the pleasure of being hosted at the Koi Resort (under $200 USD a night) which is give or take a 10-15 minute drive to the Frigate Bay Area. On the resort site you can expect zen-like conditions that feel like an oasis on island. The hotel is equipped with a gym, spa, pool, restaurants/bar and more.

Getting Around

Getting around Saint Kitts & Nevis is pretty easy, you can rent a car or take taxis which are typically readily available. Kittitians and Nevisians drive on the left side of the road. Local/public transportation comes in the form of taking mini-buses (identified by their green H- license plates). If you’re trying to go to Nevis, there are a number of water taxi companies such as Blue Waves Water Taxi & Charters according to MyStKittsTouristInformation.com.

Jump In A Carnival Troupe

If you want to participate as a masquerader for J’ouvert/Carnival Parade; here are a few names to familiarize yourself with. Bands launch typically during October or later. As of Sugar Mas 52, costumes started at $400 USD or more depending on options/band/preference. Jouvert Troupes average packages around $100 USD.

Carnival Troupes

  • Luxe Carnival
  • Majesty Carnival
  • Ultra Carnival
  • Zus Carnival

Jouvert Troupes

  • ChattaBox Jouvert
  • Excess Jouvert
  • Global Entry Jouvert
  • Xtreme Jouvert
  • Fantasy Jouvert

Band Troupes

  • Grand Masters Band
  • Nu Vybes International Band (aka Sugar Band)
  • Small Axe Band
  • Kollision Band

While you can sign up for all of the above – it’s definitely an EXPERIENCE being able to follow an actual band troupe where they perform 100% of their own music via a live band and are actively competing for Road March which is the song of the carnival season. It is extremely competitive. The difference between this type of troupe is primarily the live band music where you have the more commercialized troupes that hire DJ’s along with live band performances.

st kitts excursions carnival

On The Road For J’ouvert

It starts in the wee morning hours on Boxing Day Morning. I partnered and jumped with Excess Jouvert Troupe for their inaugural year and they were extremely organized for their first time on the road. Here’s a little recap of my experience:

ChattaBox Company is another jouvert troupe that I jumped with that offers a cohesive experience (refer to list of troupes above). Another popular local jouvert troupe is SK Red Devils .

st kitts excursions carnival

Music was pumping from various Kittitian and regional DJ’s that played soca favorites; but I MUST STRESS that the emphasis was Kittitian soca aka Wilders, a fast paced, live-band music playing local favorites or snippets of popular dancehall, pop songs or more. The objective is to experience J’ouvert and the music openly because it’s so unique to Saint Kitts plus the locals don’t waste time and vibes seem to continue to escalate from 3am well into the afternoon. FYI: The Jouvert troupes are also competing for Jouvert Troupe of The Year so bring your best energy.

Saint Kitts & Nevis Carnival Events

The national and fringe event calendars are updated frequently via the SKNCarnival website and social media. While you have so many to choose from; it’s recommended to mix both national and fringe events for a “balanced” cultural experience. If you’re looking for recommended parties/events, check out Study It Ent , Bacchanal Kingdom , TidalSKN , Inception , Top Off Brunch , Sunset Wild Safari , Carambola Beach Club , CaneJuice Events and more.

st kitts excursions carnival

Cultural events are a staple for the season such as:

  • Kiddies Parade
  • Miss St Kitts and Nevis Queen Pageant

And these are just a few examples of how to fill your time during carnival season.

On The Road Again (based on my personal Sugar Mas 52 experience w/ Ultra Carnival )

One thing about Ultra Carnival, they are very good at communication. Throughout the process of registration to collecting the costume to the road experience – they had timely communication for their masqueraders. There were a few hiccups with collecting backpacks but it was remedied up until the day of and I have to give them praise for that because nowadays you are lucky if you get that kind of customer service from a carnival band.

st kitts excursions carnival

Day 1 on the road started with locating the band and lining up for the first judging point. This is where you wear FULL costume. The masqueraders in Ultra Carnival are so nice, so vibesy and big up to the one who helped me put on my backpack- but overall I just felt very comfortable. They did play a mix of international soca and Wilders soca on the road. We got to the stage shortly and then continued into the night. In fact, the National Saint Kitts-Nevis Carnival is a running competition where the bands compete for Troupe of the Year. There are a few judging points along the route which starts mid morning and ends after sunset. Drinks/food are available from trucks via your designated band during the Grand Parade; Ultra also has food prior and post the parade. However, there are also several food vendors on the side of the street.

Day 2 on the road is deemed “Las Lap” and revelers have the option of re-wearing their costumes, wearing bits and pieces of their costumes for day 2 or wearing “Las Lap” wear which can resemble swimwear or Monday wear styled attire. The goal is to just free up on the last day of the Grand Parade. Here’s a recap of my day 2 experience with Ultra Carnival:

I also jumped with Luxe Carnival prior to the pandemic and they offer a cohesive road experience as well.

Saint Kitts & Nevis Music

Everyone should know Byron Messia (Talibans) hails from Saint Kitts & Nevis but they can also boast of having their own unique soca music in the form of “live-bands, steel pan melodies, African rhythms” called Wilders. My initial observation of Wilders was that once you really listen to it- it is extremely infectious. If you listen to one of the YouTube mixes, it gives very much “follow the riddim-improv-freestyle-kind of vibes” which is fascinating because the music can go on for hours. One of my favorite songs has to be Happy by Grand Masters Band featuring Dejour, Rucas H. E.  Here’s a few names to explore on YouTube:

  • Nu Vybes Band
  • Akaiiusweet

St Kitts & Nevis Things To Do & Attractions

There’s a variety of attractions and things to do when in Saint Kitts and Nevis that are divided into categories such as nature, ecotourism, leisure tours, water sports and more. You can check the official Visit St. Kitts website for more details , but here’s a few things I’ve had the pleasure to do while visiting beautiful Saint Kitts & Nevis.

  • Timothy Hill Overlook
  • Oneill’s Tour
  • History at Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park
  • Day Pass or Stay at Belle Mont Farm
  • Old Rum Road Tasting & Tour
  • Take a ferry over to Nevis
  • Caribelle Batik/Romney Manor
  • Hike Mt. Liamuiga

Or just chill on the beach and relax, catch a stunning sunrise or sunset…whichever floats your boat. One of the pros (many pros) is that there’s enough time to explore, celebrate the culture and relax during Sugar Mas 53.

Top 6 Attractions to Visit during St. Kitts Shore Excursions

Visit these beautiful attractions in St. Kitts during a cruise.

Book A Cruise

St. Kitts is fast becoming a popular cruise destination in the Caribbean. It is renowned for its natural beauty and has tons of history waiting to be explored. If your cruise line is dropping anchor at St. Kitts, here are a few things that you can do during shore excursions.

6 Fun Things to Do on St. Kitts Cruise

1. enjoy a leisurely stroll around basseterre.

Basseterre is the capital of St. Kitts and the perfect town to enjoy a stroll. Your cruise ship will dock at Port Zante, from where you can pass through the Old Treasure archway and head to the Circus Roundabout. Be sure to check out the Berkeley Memorial Clock. If you are looking to try out the local cuisine, head to Fort and Bank streets, where you will find food vendors selling just about everything. At Independence Square, visit Gallery Café, where you can enjoy your brew and admire works by local artists.

2. Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park

St. Kitts is renowned for many historic structures that date back to the colonial era. Brimstone Hill Fortress is one of the best-preserved forts in the Caribbean and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was constructed in the 17th century by the British and is located on top a hill that is 800 feet high. From the fort, you get amazing views of the island and pristine beaches.

3. Wingfield Estate

St. Kitts used to have a thriving sugar industry and Wingfield Estate is where you will be able to discern some of the histories of this industry. There is a disused aqueduct that used to transport water from Liamuiga Mountain to the windmill. There is even a rum distillery here and plans are afoot to get the distillery up and running. Entry to Wingfield Estate is free.

4. Train Ride

If you truly want to admire the lush beauty of St. Kitts, head out for a memorable train ride. The vibrantly colored train follows the same route that was used when the sugar industry was thriving on the island. It was used to transport sugarcane to the different sugar mills from 1912 to 1926. The ride takes about three hours and covers 30 miles of the north-eastern coastline. You will be able to get amazing views of the rainforests, ocean, volcanoes, and soaring cliffs.

5. Rainforest Excursion

Your cruise to St. Kitts will be incomplete if you don’t go exploring the lush rainforest. Located on the slopes of Liamuiga Mountain, the rainforest is teeming with flora and fauna. When you make it to the top of the mountain, you will be greeted by amazing views of the ocean and St. Kitts, making the challenging hike worthwhile.

6. Beaches of St. Kitts

Most cruise ships drop anchor on the south side of St. Kitts, where the best beaches are situated. The pristine golden sand, the gentle cool breeze, and the turquoise water will keep you busy during your sojourn in St. Kitts. Some of the most popular beaches are Majors Bay Beach, Cockleshell Beach, and Sand Bank Bay. The locals visit the Cockleshell Beach while the Sand Bank Bay is the least crowded.

These are some of the things that you can enjoy during your cruise to St. Kitts and make the most of the lush and gorgeous archipelago in the Caribbean.

St Kitts Cruise Ship

Wondering what to do in St Kitts on a cruise? From scenic railways and zip-lining, to learning about the island’s history – these are the best things to do in St Kitts.

Earlier this year I was lucky enough to spend a full week on the magical island of St Kitts . I ate (lots), snorkelled, zip-lined, explored the island’s history and drank buckets full of rum punch.

I know that many of you visit as cruise ship passengers, with the likes of Royal Caribbean, Carnival and Princess Cruises, and before you reach the island you’ll be offered a variety of interesting St Kitts cruise excursions. It might feel overwhelming as there are so many great options. When deciding what to do in St Kitts on a cruise, you need to have a think about your overall cruise ship itinerary, to figure out which islands are best for which activities.

St Kitt, Caribbean

In terms of St Kitts cruise excursions, you could take a relaxing trip through the countryside on the island’s famous scenic railway, enjoy  some of the best things to do in Basseterre, take a trip up to the historic Brimstone Hill Fortress, relax at a beach club or enjoy something a little more active, perhaps zip-lining or snorkelling.

St Kitts, Caribbean

So if you only have a few hours on dry land, what excursions should you do? Well, after docking in Basseterre and taking St Kitts cruise port’s advice to “Rush Slowly”(!) here are a few suggestions of things to do in St Kitts on a cruise…

Get a flavour of St Kitts in my video and scroll down to find out some of the top things to do.

What To Do In St Kitts On A Cruise – Best St Kitts Cruise Excursions

1. ride the st kitts scenic railway.

Built between 1912 and 1926 to transport sugar cane, the St Kitts Scenic Railway now takes tourists on a sightseeing trip around this rugged and beautiful island. The 3-hour, 30-mile journey offers some of the most spectacular views of the coastline, Mount Liamuiga (the island’s dormant volcano), the old sugar plantations and small Caribbean towns.

Plus once on board, you’ll have access to an all-inclusive bar serving delicious frozen cocktails. Pina colada anyone? This is one of the most popular St Kitts cruise excursions, and it’s a fun way to see the island.

2. St Kitts rainforest tour

If you’re a nature lover and wondering what to do in St Kitts on a cruise, let me remind you that the Caribbean isn’t JUST about beaches! St Kitts is home to an incredible thick rainforest just waiting to be explored.

St Kitts, Caribbean

The best way to get to know it is on a rainforest trek with O’Neil who’s lived on the island all of his life. I’d honestly say this is one of the best thing to do in St Kitts if you’re visiting by cruise ship, as it’s a wonderful contrast to life at sea.

He’ll help you spot monkeys, tell you which trees will bring you luck, the plants that can cure disease and once you’re done with that – you can find a vine for your finest Tarzan swing!

O'Neil's Rainforest Tour in St Kitts

3. Arts And Crafts At Romney Manor

If you’re an artistic type, and wondering about the best things to do in St Kitts on a cruise, you’ll love Romney Manor.

Learn how to weave colourful fabrics and make traditional Batik shawls at this former plantation-turned-crafts-centre and home to world-famous crafters Caribelle Batik.

Wander the tropical gardens and take a tour of the premises, watching artists in action creating colourful throws, quilts and scarves in the traditional way.

After having a look around, head to the gift shop and buy some souvenirs. I promise that no two pieces are the same!

St Kitts, Caribbean

4. Visit The Beautiful Cockleshell Bay

Located on the south side of St Kitts is Cockleshell Bay, a charming little beach with monkeys strutting across the sand, and the delicious scents of Caribbean jerk chicken wafting from rustic barbecue shacks.

The water here is crystal clear, warm and shallow, with small waves lapping the shore. Oh and if you want to see St Kitts’s little neighbour, you can look across The Narrows (small strait) to the island of Nevis.

5. Learn About The History Of St Kitts

There are historic landmarks scattered all over the island, so it’s understandable that one of the most popular St Kitts cruise excursions is to take an island tour and learn about the past.

Once the richest of all the English colonies in the Caribbean, the island’s economy was built on rum and sugar. You’ll see evidence of this former industry as you pass old sugar plantations and chimneys.

Some, like Ottley’s Plantation Inn, have been converted into hotels and restaurants so you can get right up close to the island’s history.

Visit a plantation - one of the top things to do in St Kitts. Ottley's Plantation Inn, St Kitts

For something different, head to Brimstone Hill Fortress (a must do in St Kitts). It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site located 800ft up. Not only is it a great place to soak up the island’s history, you can also enjoy the panoramic views beyond the huge canons.

If you’re only visiting for a day, perhaps on of the St Kitts cruise excursions, consider booking a tour like this one , designed to show you all the key sights in a short time.

6. Relax Into Caribbean Life

After all those days on the cruise ship, let loose with a beach day! Head to Cockleshell Bay where you can take your pick of activities, including jet skiing, stand up paddle-boarding and kayaking at St Kitts Water Sports . When you get hungry, grab a bite to eat and a frozen cocktail at Reggae Beach Bar . There’s a really fun vibe on this beach, and it’s a popular option if you’re visiting for the day, as it’s one of the best beaches in St Kitts (near cruise port in Basseterre).

Beautiful beach in St Kitts, Caribbean

If you’re more excited to see what’s happening below the water, you could hop on board a catamaran with Blue Water Safaris St Kitts . This was one of my favourite things to do in St Kitts when I visited. There’s an incredible underground world you forget about, and the water is so clear. Dive in and see!

They’ll take you snorkelling with turtles and tropical fish, and even show you a very mysterious shipwreck. If you’re lucky, you might even stop off on the island of Nevis.

Blue Water Safari crew, St Kitts

7. Visit Old Road Colonial Settlement

If you’re keen to turn back the clock and see what the historic Caribbean looked like, then visiting the settlement of Old Road on the west side of the island is a must. Known as the oldest British colonial settlement in the Caribbean, Old Road dates back to 1624, when the town was founded by Englishman James Warner. He was attracted to St Kitts by the abundance of tobacco plants. There’s a nostalgic, maritime feel to the town – a big contrast to the capital Basseterre where you’ll find St. Kitts cruise port.

St Kitts, Caribbean

8. Adventure Along The St Kitts Zip Line

Along with walking, snorkelling and swimming… in St Kitts you can zip-line! Head to Sky Safari Tours and scream at the top of your lungs as you fly over the thick forest. There are 6 zip-lines in total, with the final one a race against your partner.

If you’re travelling with kids, this is one of the St Kitts cruise excursions to pick. No doubt you’ll be a lot more scared than they are! They’ll absolutely love zooming through the air.

Zip-lining in St Kitts

9. Visit Frigate Bay In St Kitts

Many who visit the Caribbean by cruise ship get bundled off on tours, but sometimes it’s nice to do your own thing. If you don’t fancy one of the St Kitts cruise excursions, hop in a taxi from the cruise port to Frigate Bay.

This fun bay is dotted with rum and reggae bars galore. Check out the best beach bars and party hotspots, including the well-known Mr X’s Shiggidy Shack. This was another of my favourite things to do in St Kitts. There’s a really local, authentic vibe, and it wasn’t overrun with people. It’s a nice place to mix with the locals and soak up some of the Caribbean spirit too, literally in some cases!

On South Frigate Bay, you can take a dip in the warm, shallow waters of the Caribbean, or head over to the northern edge, where you’ll find bigger waves, hotels such as the St. Kitts Marriott Resort, and the greens of the Royal St Kitts Golf Club. Though not far from each other, the two sides of the bay feel like polar opposites – and I’d recommend exploring both of them if you have time when you’re planning what to do in St Kitts on a cruise.

Cool Cruiser

In October I'm sailing to Caribbean islands that I am visiting for the first time, with St. Kitts being one of them. Looking at the Carnival website for excursions I don't see anything that jumps off the page at me. Can anyone give me advice on excursions either through Carnival or on our own while there? Looking forward to hearing from people who have been there, thanks in advance.

We did the Top 10 Best of St. Kitts island tour. Brings you to Caribelle Batik, Brimstone Hill Fortress and Timothy Bay, amongst others. The guide was super informative and knowledgeable.

It's basically a bus tour but they give you 45 minutes at the fortress and the Batik studio so you can explore on your own, and about 15 at the other places. It's a good way to see a lot of things in a short period of time.

30,000+ Club

Taking the Catamaran Sail to Nevis or doing the Scenic Railway are good options for thing to do in St. Kitts. :)

Go look on the St Kitts board and there are lots of good excursion ideas. We used one of the ideas when we were there and it was great, but I can't remember the name of the tour right now.

The zip lining excursion is pretty cool, we have done it twice, definitely recommend! :D:D

We did an island tour with Thenford Grey, we were very pleased.

We did an island tour with Royston Tours and it was a great day. And it was pretty cheap too, only $45 for a whole day tour. Here is his website:

http://www.roystontoursstkitts.com/

We originally were supposed to have Royston but his van had broken down so he sent his brother and he was fantastic.

I am going to assume you may be doing Southern route from San Juan?

We have sailed 5x from there.

Our St.Kitts experiences-

First time with "senior age" plus us at time in 40's. Booked thru Carnival the Sugar train- good tour to see perimeter, and if want share excursion with slower moving family members. Interesting at first, but later on gets a bit repetitive seeing sugar cane. If do book sit on left as looking fwd in my opinion.

Our tour returned by noon, and chose to quickly do a turn around. We found the "official taxi area" a TV tray with some extra getting you a taxi of who is legally next to get a fare. Others will try & approach, but not sure if legal or just locals trying make a buck. We chose official way. I think it was $50 at the time- took us to the Brinstone Fort- worth seeing & bring your camera for sure. By early afternoon all ship tours had left and just handful touring it.

They offer a free intro movie, but our taxi had given us only 45 min so decided walk thru movie exit and start our photos. Nice not having people in your photos. It was do slow, we found a rather guilty looking crew from gift shop rolling the cannonballs diwn handicap ramp as a game to amuse themselves. From there. We caught only a bit of Caribbean batik as near closing.

On way int the fort it is X ewhat rainforests and did spy some monkeys.

The taxi fare did not cover entrance fee do add that in, it is quite small amount though.

On another cruise we just chose to enjoy ship, try shopping. To be hen st many shops are owned by same families so quite repetitive. Found nice sun dress though. If one goes all the way towards back left there is a small what I'd call mini straw market with vendor stalls. Further back from there is the circle with a flick- it used to be worth going that far, now feel all unique shops left and has become more fill n electronic shops, etc and did not feel as safe. Would now only venture to the vendor area.

Overall - I think if can see he Fort it is worth it. The see the sights tour may be best bargain.

I too can second Royston... Real great guy... If he gives you the option of air conditioned van or open air... Take the open air... As long as ur up for a little "adventure".

I've stayed at the Marriott on St Kitts, not a bad place for a day pass.

Even better is Carambola Beach Club, much nicer beach and better local food (lobster salad sandwich or grilled grouper or mahi mahi).

Is it Friars or Frigate Beach that faces Nevis? Already mentioned is the snorkel to Nevis catamaran trip, that's usally an all day affair with lunch.

You didn't say what your preferences are, so I'm throwing out stuff with no idea if you could like it or not. Land side things like Brimstone and the train have been mentioned. Whatever.

KroozFoolz

This is what I would suggest too.

Brimstone Hill Fortress and Caribelle Batik are definitely must see's imo for first time visitors to the island.

This is what I would suggest too. Brimstone Hill Fortress and Caribelle Batik are definitely must see's imo for first time visitors to the island.

Yes! We did a tour with Thenford Grey when we sailed there on the Victory in 2011, and it was wonderful!

Another cruise was taking a local taxi to the beach - on way stopped at photo scenic spot where the Caribbean Sea can be seen on one side, and Atlantic on other all in same photo frame.

From here went to beach- my opinion only again- not the island to pick a beach stop. The closest "nice" beach to the cruise ship doc is Frigate Bay - about a 10 minute taxi ride. It's not too big but there are several beach bars/casual restaurants there. Five minutes further away is South Friars Beach which is quite a bit longer and is home to the famous Shipwreck Beach Bar. Many people think it is "nicer than Frigate Bay. We went to Shipwreck even though taxi wanted take us to resort a bit closer up road (likely a kickback) found beach narrow, very rocky- coral needing shoes and underwhelmed. Don't recommend it. Better things to do or see here.

Overall - I think if can see the Fort by some tour it is worth including it. The see all the sights tour a poster mentioned may be best bargain.

P.s. Don't be lured by guys with cute monkeys for photos they want money for letting uou take photos.

We took a cab to the Shipwreck Beach Bar and it was great! One of my best cruise days. I would go back for sure!

It was a quick cab ride, the restaurant is on a beautiful black sand beach with really cute chairs with thatched shading, good snorkelling, tasty drinks and monkeys!!!

Here's another vote for Thenford Grey

Some friends and I did Carnival's "Rail and Sail" excursion last year. It was a lot more fun than I anticipated. We had a great day.

Doctorsbaby

We did a 6 hour catamaran that included snorkeling in a couple places and beach time in Nevis through Carnival.Absolutely loved it and plan on doing it again if we're ever in St Kitts again.

The sailing part is new since w did it, sure would amp up the fun.

P.s. The sugar bars they serve on train sure hit spot for my sweet tooth. Was on a sugar high for those giving me theirs.

Thanks to all that responded so far. In one of the replies It was said that I didn't put what my preferences are. that is because I have none. When I have done different island excursions in the past they have ranged from snorkeling to bus tours and everything in between. Just want to see what others did and they enjoyed. Thanks again

We did an island tour with Leo Christopher, recommended here on CC and on trip advisor.

Affordable price, saw all the sights, and he is a wonderful, warm hearted person!

We came back from our Caribbean Cruise towards the end of June ... and I did a lot of research before hand (especially for St Kitts) and put all the contacts, how I found these people etc, everything is in my review (I posted somewhere here on cruise critic).

I'll be there in mid September with Valor. I have booked the St. Kitts Tasting tour which gets great reviews. Hopefully it will live up to the comments.

Do you have to book this in advance, or can you book it at the dock?

Thenford Grey is great! I booked him in advance so I was sure to get him.

Professional guides will ensure your safety and provide interesting insights about the local flora and fauna.

It’s an exciting and immersive way to connect with the island’s rugged terrain.

If you’re a water lover, St. Kitts has plenty to offer as well. Embark on a snorkeling or diving excursion to explore the vibrant coral reefs and encounter a variety of marine life. The crystal-clear waters surrounding the island are teeming with colorful fish, coral formations, and even the chance to spot sea turtles and rays.

Another exhilarating water activity to try is kayaking. Paddle along the coastline, exploring secluded coves, and possibly even encountering playful dolphins or curious sea birds. It’s a peaceful and thrilling way to connect with the stunning natural environment of St. Kitts.

If you’re looking to cool off and have some family-friendly fun, head to one of the island’s water parks. These parks offer a range of water slides, pools, and lazy rivers, making them the perfect place to enjoy a day of splashing and laughter with your loved ones.

For a truly unforgettable experience, consider booking a catamaran cruise around the island. Sail along the coastline, basking in the warm Caribbean sun, and snorkel in pristine waters. Enjoy a delicious lunch on board and sip on tropical cocktails as you take in the scenic beauty of St. Kitts from a different perspective.

As you embark on these adventure activities and excursions, it’s important to prioritize safety and choose reputable tour operators. Ensure that they have experienced guides, provide the necessary safety equipment, and follow sustainable tourism practices to protect the island’s natural resources.
