"Grand" it certainly is: With 14 restaurants, 25 bars and nine pools, the Grand Palladium Riviera shares prime real estate with four other all-inclusive properties under the Palladium umbrella. However, guests say this branch is quieter than the adjacent Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort & Spa , which visitors say attracts a younger, louder crowd. But whether you're here for the laid-back atmosphere or the hotel's lively locale (about halfway between Playa del Carmen and Tulum along the Riviera Maya coast), you'll find plenty to do. Past visitors especially enjoy the age-appropriate programming for toddlers to teens at the kids clubs, along with complimentary access to archery and tennis equipment. And if you're looking to unwind, soothe sore muscles at the Zentropía Palladium Spa & Wellness center (treatments do cost extra) or take a siesta in your Spanish colonial-style digs. Grand Palladium Riviera Maya: Our In-Depth Guide

Sometimes you just need to get away, especially in the winter. From the moment that snowflakes started falling from the sky, Justin and I were dreaming of a tropical vacation, as many Canadians do. Thankfully, tripcentral.ca has a limitless amount of all-inclusive vacations in sunny destinations. It’s easy to book your dream trip online or with an experienced travel agent who will help you along the way. Before you know it, you’ll be relaxing on the beach with a drink in your hand.

The two of us chose the luxurious Grand Palladium Riviera Maya Resort & Spa in Mexico. At this five star property, we were looking forward to kicking up our feet in the warm weather with gorgeous views of the Caribbean Sea.

While there are four properties at the Grand Palladium Riviera Maya, Justin and I stayed at two of them and got to enjoy all four of them. After a week in paradise, we know the ins and outs of the resorts and what you simply must do when you go there. So, grab a coffee and get comfortable – here’s our in-depth guide to the Grand Palladium Riviera Maya Resort in Mexico. I will warn you first: this blog post might cause you to immediately book a trip there (a good idea, I must say!).

The Resort of Our Dreams

After an early morning flight to Cancun, we embarked on a private transfer to the Grand Palladium Riviera Maya, just beyond Playa del Carmen . We were tired, hungry, and couldn’t wait to get settled at our new home for the week.

Upon our arrival to the Grand Palladium White Sand Resort & Spa, we were given the 5-star treatment. From hot towels to a tropical beverage, we were immediately welcomed to the resort by the staff.

Feel free to connect back to the outside world right way if you’d like. The entire resort complex has complimentary Wi-Fi that’s high speed. We never had any connectivity issues during our week at the Grand Palladium Riviera Maya.

Grand Palladium Riviera Maya Overview

As you can see from the map above, the Grand Palladium Riviera Maya is actually four resorts in one. There’s the Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort & Spa, the Grand Palladium Colonial Resort & Spa, the Grand Palladium White Sand Resort & Spa, and The Royal Suites Yucatan. We stayed for three nights at the Grand Palladium White Sand, and four nights at the adults-only TRS Yucatan resort.

There are restaurants, swimming pools, and common areas at each resort, but these spaces are available for guests staying at any of the resorts. You can move freely between each resort. However, there are a few spots designed for guests of the TRS Yucatan or those with VIP bracelets (the spa, the TRS Yucatan restaurants, and the VIP beach area).

In total, there are 9 a la carte restaurants, 5 buffet style restaurants, 25 bars, and 7 freshwater pools around the complex.

Grand Palladium White Sand

We stayed in a suite on the third floor of one of the buildings on the Grand Palladium White Sand property. White Sand is a family friendly resort, not limited to only adults. Out of the three family resorts (White Sand, Colonial and Kantenah), the White Sand section was the quietest and most peaceful.

A river runs through the property, surrounded by a natural mangrove forest. You have the option of staying in small huts on this lagoon (the Mayan Suites), and you can even canoe up to your front door. Although we didn’t stay in one of these huts, I really loved the concept.

There are family pools and adults only swimming pools here as well. These swimming pools were never busy and we rarely saw people around them. The pools at the Colonial resort were much more popular with families as one of them had water slides. The Colonial resort is also closer to the beach and the ocean.

There are 210 junior suites, 12 Mayan suites, and 42 suites at the Grand Palladium White Sand. That’s right, there are only suites! Our accommodation was stylish and elegant, featuring two separate rooms. In one room, there was a sofa, TV, and a balcony. The mini bar was beneath the TV, featuring beer and soft drinks that was always kept fully stocked.

The other room was the bedroom with a king-sized bed, another flatscreen TV, and its own second balcony. There were plush bathrobes and slippers waiting for us on the bed upon our arrival.

This balcony offered a view overlooking one of the swimming pools, off in the distance. Both balconies were surrounded by lush greenery and palm trees. Tropical birds in a rainbow of colours fluttered and chirped happily from tree to tree.

We had so much space in this suite for just the two of us.

The spacious bathroom exuded luxury, from the jetted tub to the separate rainfall shower. There were complimentary toiletries, a hair dryer, and a magnification mirror. A large window let lots of light into the bathroom. I highly recommend making full use of the jacuzzi bathtub for a rejuvenating experience.

Allow us to take you on a photo tour of the Grand Palladium White Sand Resort & Spa. We’ll showcase the front lobby, the swimming pools and the public spaces near our accommodation.

It’s interesting to note that the Grand Palladium has strict environmental protections that respect the natural flora and fauna of the area. You can wander down paths that wind through the mangrove forest, and several bridges cross the lagoon.

Colonial And Kantenah Resorts

Now that I’ve shown you around the Grand Palladium White Sand, allow me to show you around both the Colonial and Kantenah resorts. All four of these resorts (including the TRS Yucatan, which I’ll introduce later) are connected to one another.

You can ride a train between each of the three resorts or walk. I enjoyed mostly walking around to get some exercise, and I didn’t find the property to be too big that I couldn’t walk it. The train stops at each of the three hotel lobbies (Colonial, Kantenah, and White Sand), as well as the spa and activities area.

When you’re staying at the TRS Yucatan, a private shuttle car will pick you up and drop you off wherever you like on the resort.

The Beach in Riviera Maya

You’ve likely been waiting in anticipation to see what the beach looks like, right? Well, you won’t be disappointed! If the name, “Grand Palladium White Sand” tells you anything, there will be white sands. Turquoise waters with a gentle wave and a powdery, white sandy beach is exactly what you’ll find. With just about 1km of beachfront to explore, you’ll find pure relaxation right here.

Walk along the beach, go for a swim, lounge on a deck chair, or participate in water sports. There’s something for everyone.

Activities at the Resort

Speaking of water sports, there are so many activities to keep you busy and entertained at the Grand Palladium Riviera Maya. Enjoy snorkeling, kayaking, wind surfing, and pedal boating.

There’s an entire sports complex at the resort. Justin and I spent one morning playing shuffleboard and basketball. There’s also beach volleyball (both at the sports complex and at the beach), tennis courts, soccer fields, badminton courts, archery, ping pong, rifle practice, and mini golf.

The Zentropia Palladium Spa

Ah, one of our favourite spaces at Grand Palladium Riviera Maya. The Zentropia Palladium Spa & Wellness Centre contains a swimming pool, a water spa, a fitness centre, and of course, massage rooms.

Justin and I went for a soothing Swedish massage on the last day of our trip, and it was the best massage I’ve ever had. I’m not even joking. It was pure bliss.

For guests of the TRS Yucatan, those with VIP bracelets, or those with a spa appointment, you’re welcome to enjoy the invigorating water spa. Alternatively, guests of the resort can visit this area for $10 per day. There’s a swimming pool, hot pools, cold pools, a steam room, a sauna, and more. Alternate between hot and cold pools, much like traditional Nordic spas . Some of the pools are indoors and some are outdoors.

At one point in a circular hot tub with an open ceiling, it started to rain. It was an incredible experience to have the rain falling from overhead while soaking in a jetted hot tub.

There’s also a fitness centre on site, with a vast array of cardio machines, weight machines, free weights, and an exercise room for yoga and other classes.

TRS Yucatan Resort

For the second half of our week in Mexico, we moved one resort over to The Royal Suites Yucatan. It’s an adults only, all-inclusive, luxury resort. While every property at the Grand Palladium Riviera Maya is a five star resort, TRS Yucatan is even more luxurious and the staff is somehow even more attentive.

Every building has three butlers that are ready to cater to your every need. For us, our butlers were a friendly face to greet us upon returning to our suite. They also put fresh flowers and fruit in our room. Anytime we wanted a ride to a restaurant or another resort, they quickly arranged for a shuttle to pick us up and take us wherever we wanted.

Our suite was on the third floor and had a spectacular view of the infinity pool and the ocean. There were other suites on the first floor that had their own private swimming pool. We adored the view and I really enjoyed sitting on the balcony every morning with a cup of Nespresso coffee from the room.

I’ll take you on a tour of our suite at TRS Yucatan. It’s ultra modern with tons of mirrors, and an open concept layout with the sinks and bathtub all in the same space as the bedroom.

There’s a separate stall for the shower and the toilet, and a jetted tub in the middle of the room. With the couch, flatscreen TV, and mini bar, you can really make yourself right at home here. I also adored that I could make myself a delicious cup of coffee in the room.

Private Pools and VIP Beach

If you stay at The Royal Suites Yucatan, you truly get the royal treatment. There are several private pools for guests of TRS Yucatan at the resort, including an infinity pool and a saltwater pool. The infinity pool is picture perfect with views of that stunning ocean. If you’re looking to relax, there are plush loungers or even full beds to enjoy an afternoon snooze in the sunshine.

The saltwater pool is super unique and allows water to flow in and out of the ocean itself. As you can imagine, it was actually filled with tropical fish that swam in from the ocean. It was so interesting to see fish in a swimming pool like this, as they can come and go freely as they please. I even saw a guest snorkeling in the swimming pool!

As there isn’t any beach right in front of TRS Yucatan, you need to move to the opposite side of the resort for the private beach. Over by the Kantenah Resort, guests of TRS Yucatan have access to a VIP beach that’s quiet with lots of loungers. Lay among the palm trees and savour the scenery of white sands and brilliant waters.

As a vegan, the chefs were able to prepare delicious, plant-based meals. While there weren’t any vegan choices on the regular menu, it was simple for them to make a variation of a dish or an entirely new meal. From Mexican food to sushi, there were restaurants featuring several cuisines from around the world, so you’ll never get tired of eating the same thing every day. In total, there are 9 a la carte themed restaurants, 5 buffet restaurants, and 1 exclusive restaurant for guests of TRS Yucatan.

Chic Cabaret

At TRS Yucatan (and available to all guests), there’s a dinner theatre show called Chic Cabaret. At an additional cost of $100 per person, it’s an extravagant evening where you’re served several meal courses while watching an impressive stage show.

Chic Cabaret has talented performers who sing, dance, and even perform acrobatics. It was a feast for the senses: our eyes, our ears, and our taste buds. It’s easy to have a vegan meal, too. Some of my dishes included a unique sushi dish made out of fruit, tofu with garlic, and a sweet treat for dessert.

The singers belted out popular tunes and we were encouraged to sing along. Lasting about three hours, it was an excellent way to spend an evening together.

Resort Excursions

Even though it’s tempting to stay on the resort, you might want to consider getting out there and exploring the region. The Mayan Riviera is home to ancient Mayan ruins , island getaways, and some of the best snorkeling and scuba.

We decided to try something a little different this time and embark on a sunset sailing cruise on the Caribbean Sea. I’ll go into more detail on this excursion soon, but it was such a beautiful sight to watch the sun go down from a sailboat.

Before I knew much about Mexico’s Riviera Maya, I’d always imagined it as a spillover of Cancun, its cosmopolitan neighbor to the north. Big mistake: This stretch of Caribbean coastline has very little of Cancun’s commercial sprawl or splashy nightlife. Instead, it’s low-key and largely unspoiled, lush with jungle foliage and rich in Mayan history. In other words, just my style.

All-inclusive resorts are plentiful in the area, and this pricing model can work well for families, as you’re not shelling out every time someone wants a snack or signs up for an activity. The trick is finding an all-inclusive that hits the sweet spot for quality, value and family-friendliness. I recently spent a long weekend at the Grand Palladium Riviera Maya in Akumal, and I’m happy to say that it scores high on all three fronts — it’s a very good choice for a Mexico vacation with kids.

Grand Palladium Riviera Maya Review for Families

Know this: The Grand Palladium is big. Five sister resorts, with more than 1,500 rooms and suites, sit within the property’s borders. Guests have full access to all of them except Royal Suites Yucatán, which is adults-only and has restrictions. What astonished me was how intimate the complex felt despite its size. Buildings keep a low profile, tucked amid lavish landscaping that creates a sense of seclusion. Although the place was bustling, I saw very few crowds or lines — impressive, given the 100 percent occupancy at the time.

Golf carts whisk guests from point to point, but I was glad to take my time strolling; the grounds are gorgeous and immaculate. Wildlife watchers will love the roaming iguanas and badger-like coati , plus the resident flamingos and the crocodile habitat. Grand Palladium’s wonderful sea turtle camp, a protective effort to safeguard nests and help hatchlings reach the water, showcases conservation in a way kids can relate to.

Accommodations

I stayed at Grand Palladium Kantenah in a junior suite, which is spacious and has a nice setup for families. The sitting area includes a pullout sofa that supplements a king or two double beds. There’s no partition between sleeping spaces, but you won’t feel like you’re on top of each other. For more privacy, choose a full suite with separate living and bedroom areas.

Large families can book connecting rooms and suites in a number of configurations. Accommodations are clean and nicely appointed, though trappings and finishing touches can vary with the room category.

TIP: Grandparents or other childfree family members may appreciate the peace and quiet of the Mayan Suites, adults-only quarters that feature stunning outdoor showers and large terraces with hammocks. They’re close enough to the kid-friendly rooms to be convenient, but they still feel like a retreat.

Just For Kids

As any parent knows, happy kids make for a happy vacation. Complimentary children’s clubs — Baby Club for ages 0-3; Mini Club for ages 4-12; and Junior Club for ages 13-19 — will keep them engaged and active. All of the clubs offer a huge menu of weekly activities, from Spanish lessons to treasure hunts to ultimate Frisbee. I love that they give eco-tours of the resort, with an emphasis on native flora and fauna. Nighttime family entertainment includes live shows, karaoke and a kids’ disco (of course, there are adult versions of all these and more).

Grand Palladium recently partnered with Raggs , a preschool TV series that began in Australia and now airs on PBS and Telemundo in select U.S. markets, to rebrand its family programming. Activities for younger kids have been revamped around the Raggs characters, and the tots I saw seemed to be crazy about these lovable canines.

Fun in the Sun

Soccer, volleyball, archery, tennis, basketball … name your sport, and Grand Palladium probably offers it. If, like me, the thought of exerting yourself in tropical weather makes you want to flop straight into the nearest pool chair, you’ll be spoiled for choice: The property has nine pools, including a fabulous saltwater pool right on the beach. Most welcome kids, though a few are just for over-18s. There’s a shallow, zero-entry toddler pool, plus a larger family pool with waterslides and splashing fountains, near the kids’ clubs.

One of my must-haves at Caribbean resorts is a private beach, and the one here is a beauty. The soft sand is perfect for tiny toes, but keep an eye out for rocks and coral at the water’s edge. Snorkeling, kayaking, windsurfing, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, and other watersports are fun diversions for older kids (some incur an additional fee).

TIP: Surf in this region can get a bit strong at times. Heed the color-coded flags on the beach to keep little ones safe.

The onsite Zentropia spa is a heavenly oasis for parents, with state-of-the-art treatment rooms, an outdoor hydrotherapy area, an expansive fitness center and more. I could have spent hours at the whisper-quiet infinity pool, which has its own whirlpool and a narrow swimming channel that meanders around the building’s rear. Only the promise of a hot stone massage lured me out of the water, and it paid off: The luxurious head-to-toe rubdown was one of the best I’ve ever had.

There’s a small per-person fee to use the wet areas, but they’re complimentary for the day if you purchase a treatment.

Grand Palladium has more than a dozen restaurants and 20-plus bars. Breakfast and lunch are buffet-style, with numerous venues and enormous spreads to choose from. My past experience with all-inclusive buffets has been mixed, but I was pleased with the quality and variety here, especially the large number of cook-to-order stations.

Kids are welcome in the à la carte eateries, and the chefs are incredibly accommodating of picky eaters. Themes at these restaurants span the globe, from Brazilian to Japanese to (of course) Mexican. My favorite was the beachfront Punta Emilia, a cluster of open-air pavilions with the waves crashing just steps away. Seafood is the star, and we feasted on platters of perfectly cooked lobster, squid, prawns and more. The Italian fare at Portofino also stands out. All restaurants on the property are part of the all-inclusive fee, with no à la carte surcharges.

Although you won’t run out of things to do at the resorts, it’s nice to get off the property at least once and take in the local culture. Mayan ruins are the marquee attraction in these parts, and for a combo of fascinating history and jaw-dropping natural splendor, you can’t beat Tulum . This ancient settlement sits on a bluff that plunges to the sea below, with a stunning beach to enjoy after you tour the site. There’s a lot of walking, and not all of it is stroller-friendly, but an optional shuttle train does save visitors the long trek to the entry gate.

For families, it’s worth it to book a private guide. The cost is reasonable, and it will more than pay for itself in personal attention and detailed information that brings the past to life. And while you savor a last look at the ruins, toddlers and preschoolers will have plenty of room to run and work out the wiggles before the ride back to the resort.

Hi, so the baby club is actually closest to kantenah and colonial. So, if you stay in either of those, you are very close. Whitesand is further away.

We are very happy to announce that construction of Family Selection in Riviera Maya has begun! Grand Palladium Hotels & Resorts introduces Family Selection, a hotel within a hotel created especially for VIP families. This means exclusive facilities all located in front of the beach, allowing them to enjoy a more intimate ambience and a greater comfort within hotel, beach and swimming pool.

Family Selection will have 170 rooms, which will be located on the beachfront, in this section you will find the reception, a private area or lounge for families to check-in, a private pool where you will find Niu the pool bar, play area. In addition, guests will also have access to the other hotel dining venues within the resort. Here are the renders of the renovations in the Show Cooking Restaurants Tikal & La Hacienda.

As our commitment to providing guests’ with an exceptional vacation experience continues to be our prime focus, we have decided to reshift the focus of Palladium Hotels & Resorts in Riviera Nayarit. As of December 1, 2017, the adults-only The Royal Suites Punta de Mita Hotel will no longer exist and will instead operate as Grand Palladium Vallarta Resort & Spa. This means that there will no longer be exclusive “adults-only” guestroom areas within the hotel. The adults-only pool will also begin to operate as a “relaxing adult-friendly pool area”.

This decision was made on the heels of the newly rebranded The Royal Suites Hotel and its mission to deliver a memorable vacation experience for adults. We believe that in order to better serve our guests, consistent offerings throughout each brand is essential and we are certain that this shift will ensure all guests are given the best opportunity to enjoy their stay with us in Riviera Nayarit. In addition to these operational changes, renovations will soon begin to other areas within the hotel. Below is a summary of the upcoming renovations:

Lobby – Grand Palladium Vallarta Resort & Spa Renovations to the current lobby will take place between August 15 – November 15, 2017. The lobby of The Royal Suites Punta de Mita will be used for all Front Desk services during this time. *Please note that during this time, guests of The Royal Suites will share the lobby with families. All of facilities will remain as adults-only.

Las Terrazas Restaurant Renovations to this buffet restaurant will take place between August 15 – November 15, 2017 . During this time, guests may enjoy from any other of the buffet or a-la-carte restaraurants.

Punta Cana Renovation Schedule

Palladium Hotels and Resorts Rebrands Royal Suites

Earlier this year, Palladium Hotels & Resorts announced a plan to invest $21 million in itself to enhance guest experiences at a dozen properties throughout the Caribbean and Mexico.

Now the company is in the throes of executing the plan, and is about to embark on one of the most ambitious parts of its overall strategy.

Palladium Hotels & Resorts is utilizing the industry’s Three R’s as it has begun to renovate, rename and rebrand its adults-only luxury resorts known as The Royal Suites by Palladium and changing to TRS Hotels.

The rebrand includes a fresh and elegant look on the property as well as an updated marketing campaign and logo. TRS Hotels will become independent of Grand Palladium Hotels & Resorts, the company said, while remaining true to the mission of offering the best adults-only luxury experience and personalized service at the current properties in the Dominican Republic and Mexico as well as the new Costa Mujeres property set to open in fall of 2018.

“As the adults-only market in the Caribbean and Mexico continues to grow and expand, Palladium Hotels & Resorts looks to differentiate itself by evolving its adults-only brand, TRS Hotels,” Jacques De Paep, Palladium Hotel Group Commercial Director for North America, said in a statement.

The move is part of the overall mission to enhance Palladium properties. Almost a quarter of the $21 million investments, $5 million, is slated to go to upgrading food and beverage offerings, including a higher quality of steak and liquor offerings as well as a better presentation at buffets.

Palladium will also increase its staff size by 13 percent compared to last year.

“We are dedicated to improving our guests’ experiences in every way possible, so we are investing in upgrades in the areas that matter the most—service, food and beverage and technology,” De Paep said in a statement. “Guest satisfaction at our upgraded properties in Jamaica, Riviera Maya and Punta Cana has soared after the renovations completed, so we are extending this investment in upgrades at all of our properties.”

The TRS Hotels revamp will also include an increase in staff, upscale amenities like guestrooms with swim-up rooms, dinner-and-a-show-themed restaurants, and world-class beach clubs.

The new TRS Hotels brand maintains the original mission, however, as it caters to an adults-only experience with customized service and attention.

In addition to the rebranding, TRS Yucatan in Riviera Maya will be undergoing various upgrades and renovations from July 1 to Nov. 15, including completely renovated guestrooms, swim-up rooms, additional exclusive a la carte restaurants, a new infinity pool, and integration of the entire room stock of the former Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa along with a Signature Beach Club.

TRS Turquesa in Punta Cana will also be undergoing changes thanks to the addition of a signature Beach Club, with scheduled completion set for Dec. 1.

PUERTO VALLARTA

An update from one of our members, Peter Gittinger, regarding the upcoming changes at Grand Palladium Puerto Vallarta.

“As many of you are aware, Grand Palladium Vallarta will be undergoing some changes in the coming months. I had the opportunity to sit down with Ana Castro to discuss these changes.

Beginning August 15 and lasting until November 15, the main lobby will be closed for renovations. During this period, the Royal lobby will be used for all guests. Additionally, during the same time period La Terraza and Ribs & More will also be closed for renovations.

Beginning September 1, the Oceanview suites in the current Royal section will begin renovations. Three Ambassador Suites and one Signature Suite will replace the four Oceanview suites. Renovations of these rooms is expected to last until December 1.

As of November 15, Royal suites Punta de Mita will close. Those facilities will become incorporated into Grand Palladium Vallarta. The restaurant will serve a continental breakfast to grand Palladium guests as well as open as the new Ribs and More restaurant for dinner. All facilities will be available to Grand Palladium guests.

When La Terraza reopens following the renovations, it will house the new Viva Mexico restaurant. When the renovations to the lobby are completed, it will serve the entire resort.

On December 21, Grand Palladium Vallarta will open it’s new adult only section. This section will be located inhe two buildings comprising tower one and is comprised of 162 rooms. Guests staying in the adult only section will have their own restaurant, the current viva Mexico, which will serve an a la carte restaurant serving breakfast and dinner. Likewise, the Infinity pool will be exclusive to guests staying in the adult only section. Additional services include: free access to wet areas of the spa, a 15% discount in the spa, pillow menu, and 24 hour room service.

Finally, the current Royal lobby will be renovated and become the new sales office for the Palladium Travel Club. It is unclear at this time what other functions that area will have.”

While rocking the cradle from his native Ibiza , the hotel empire of the Matutes expands in Mexico . If in 2019 a new member of the Ushuaïa saga is scheduled to open in Cancún , the company will inaugurate its largest tourist complex to date, less than 20 kilometers away. The work will consist of more than 3,000 rooms with an investment of more than 400 million euros.

According to sources at the Palladium Hotel Group at the Tianguis Tourist Fair held in Acapulco , September 2018 is the date chosen to welcome the first guests in the establishment. The complex planned by the group of former Foreign Minister Abel Matutes will include up to four properties of the Grand Palladium brand and two The Royal Suites , the company ‘s logo for adults only.

The resort will be erected on Costa Mujeres , off Isla Mujeres and just 10 kilometers north of Cancun . The different buildings will revolve around an artificial lake, which will navigate small boats that will transfer tourists from one block to another.

Nearly five million will go to the food and beverage department to finish the bottle in the cocktails . From now on, the bars of the chain will wear brands like Absolut , Ron Havana and Bombay Saphire . Meanwhile, “there will also be a technological leap in accommodations, with higher Wi-Fi bandwidth and new surround sound systems,” they presume.

The rest of the capital will enter fully into the Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa in Riviera Maya , which will merge with the neighboring The Royal Suites Yucatan to create a complex of 454 rooms, 108 of them with swimming pool. Company sources argued at the time that the company “intended to develop a project in Panama that was not finally carried out.” Despite the setback, “society did not dissolve in the hope of finding the right ground, which we continue to seek,” they added.

PALLADIUM HOTELS & RESORTS INVESTING AN ADDITIONAL $21M TO UPGRADE GUEST EXPERIENCES AT 12 PROPERTIES IN THE CARIBBEAN AND MEXICO

Palladium Hotels & Resorts announces plans today to invest an additional 21 million dollars to upgrade the guest experiences at its Grand Palladium and The Royal Suites by Palladium properties in the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Mexico. The investment is being made to improve quality and consistency as part of the company’s dedication to offering the same high-quality experiences at each hotel at an excellent value.

Five million dollars of the total investment will go toward improving food and beverage offerings, which will include upgrades in steak quality to use angus and cowboy cuts, upgrades to the quality and presentation of food at the buffets, higher-quality liquors at all bars including Absolut, Stoli, Havana Rum, Bombay Sapphire, Courvoisier, Don Julio Blanco and Reposado and better mini bar snacks.

For staffing, Palladium Hotels & Resorts is increasing the number of staff by 13-percent over 2016, which will total 8,243 staff at all 12 properties in the Caribbean and Mexico, which includes the Grand Palladium Resorts & Spas and The Royal Suites by Palladium. A director of innovation and product development, Bernard Wyss, is beginning work this month who will oversee all of the quality and service consistency at the properties. He will identify market trends, analyze economic impacts on the business and oversee services that will be implemented at each property. Wyss has over 20 years’ experience in hospitality with top all-inclusive hotel groups including Paradisus, Melía Hotel International, RCD Resorts and AMResorts.

Palladium Hotels & Resorts is also investing in technology on property, such as improving the Palladium Hotels & Resorts App so guests can message the concierge directly, increasing the bandwidth of the WiFi, installing better surround sound systems at the pools and updating the animation capabilities for performances. Also, additional trolleys to take guests from one property to another will be added to reduce wait times when traveling to each of the lobbies. New pool bikes for exercising in the pool will also be installed.

GRAND PALLADIUM RIVIERA RESORT & SPA TO BECOME THE ROYAL SUITES YUCATÁN BY PALLADIUM WITH A MAJOR INVESTMENT

Riviera_Royal The company is also announcing today that it will convert the Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa in Riviera Maya, Mexico into an extension of The Royal Suites Yucatán by Palladium to expand the resort’s boutique adult-exclusive offerings. This transformation will be completed in various phases starting July 1, 2017 and will carry through the fall.

The conversion of the Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa to The Royal Suites Yucatán will give guests a personalized, intimate, adults-only experience in a smaller setting and access to exclusive restaurants. The current Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa lobby will be converted into the new lobby of The Royal Suites Yucatán. At this time, all hotel services will be available at the adjoining Grand Palladium White Sand, Colonial and Kantenah lobbies.

The newly renovated, adult-exclusive property will feature a total of 454 guestrooms with premium amenities and services, 108 of which will have swim-up pools, a completely new beach experience featuring an adults-only Beach Club, four exclusive à la carte themed restaurants and a cabaret a la carte restaurant that will host different shows and a new infinity pool. Guests staying at other Palladium resorts at the Riviera Maya complex will not be affected by the construction. This additional investment follows major renovations and upgrades to the Palladium Hotels & Resorts in Jamaica, Riviera Maya and Punta Cana in 2016. The 21 million dollars will be invested at five Grand Palladium Resorts & Spas in Mexico, three in the Dominican Republic and two in Jamaica. Additional investment is being made at Grand Palladium Punta Cana Resort & Spa to upgrade the property by the end of November 2017. Rodizio, the Brazilian steakhouse, will replace the current Hemingway Bar at Grand Palladium Bavaro Resort & Spa. At Sumptuori Restaurant, additional teppanyaki tables will be installed. A new area will also be added that will be dedicated to the the popular nikkei concept, which is a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisines. In addition, the interior of El Behique restaurant will be renovated to feature new, modern designs. At Grand Palladium Punta Cana Resort & Spa, the lobby and select guestrooms will be renovated with Caribbean designs. A new beach club will be added to the adults-only area of The Royal Suites Turquesa, which is inspired by the success of the beach club concept from Ibiza.

Palladium Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to upgrade its Riviera Maya Complex on 2017. These renovations will include converting and incorporating the current Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa into The Royal Suites Yucatan by Palladium.

Below is a complete project timeline:

Rooms renovation: July 1 – November 15, 2017.

Disco & Theatre:

July 1 – November 1, 2017: Construction will be in progress in the Disco and Theatre of the current Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa. During this time, alternate entertainment venues will be provided to guests. Once construction to the Disco and Theatre are complete, the Disco will convert to become one of four exclusive restaurants available to guests of The Royal Suites Yucatan and the Theatre will become the second exclusive restaurant providing guests with a “Dinner and Show” themed experience referred to as the “Cabaret”.

Riviera Lobby and Kabah Buffet:

June 1 – September 15, 2017: Construction will be in progress at the current Riviera Lobby which will convert to the new The Royal Suites Lobby. Guests will not be affected by this construction since all guestrooms in Riviera will be closed. All hotel services will be available at the adjoining White Sand, Colonial and Kantenah Lobbies. Construction will also be in progress at the Kabah Buffet. During this time, breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available at “La Laguna” as well as the other restaurants within the Riviera Maya Complex. The renovated Kabah Buffet will feature 2 separate sections – 1 buffet exclusively available to guests of The Royal Suites and 1 for guests of Grand Palladium.

“El Jardin” Restaurant & the current The Royal Suites Lobby:

September 16 – November 15, 2017: Construction will be in progress at “El Jardín” restaurant and the current lobby of The Royal Suites. The current lobby for The Royal Suites will convert into 2 separate a la carte restaurants. By this time, the new lobby for The Royal Suites will be open at its new location and the buffet will be available at Kabah.

Our commitment to providing exceptional service and accommodations for our guests has led to continued upgrades of our Punta Cana property. The renovation timeline, which is expected to run from May 1 st to November 1, 2016, September 11 th , 2016 for the first 4 villas 91, 92, 93 and 94 a total of 80 rooms, and in September 25 th the other 3 villas 95, 96 and 97 to complete with this new 60 rooms the amount of 140 that were renovated.

Air-conditioning Improvements

From May 2 nd thru June 30th, we will intervene in The Royal Suites Turquesa Lobby, to change and improve the installations of the Air Conditioning system in this lobby.

During these two months the lobby will not have Air Conditioned. All services and basic functions of the Reception will be available. The rest of the services in the lobby (such as Lounge, bar, toilettes, Internet corner) whenever possible, will be also available.

Accommodations

Renovations of the following accommodations will take place Mai 1 to 11 th September (1 st 4 villas) and 25 th September (last 3 villas):

The total room renovations are 140 rooms will be updated with new furniture and décor as well as renovation of bathrooms and terraces.

Twelve (12) Ocean View rooms on the ground floor will be enlarged by incorporating the current terrace, and a new outdoor terrace with private Jacuzzi will be added to each room.
Fifty Eight (58) Double Deluxe rooms on the ground floor will turn into Junior Suites expanding the room with the current terrace as interior space and an exterior terrace will be added to each room.
Forty Two (42) Loft Suites will retain their Loft Suites category and gain a loft, new bathroom design, new décor and a second toilette on the upper part.
28 Twenty Eight (28) Double Deluxe will get a new bathroom design and new décor.

Food + Beverage

Starting on September 1st thru October 15th, Behique buffet, located at Grand Palladium Punta Cana Resort & Spa, will remain closed. We will improve the roofing top and cover to maintain and optimize its condition, to improve the level of comfort required as needed.

During this month and a half, whenever the occupancy level requires it, we will be offering lunch at the nearest restaurant at Grand Palladium Palace, “Las Torres”.

From June 15th through , December 15th 2016, we will update the facilities of our spa, Zentropía Palladium Spa & Wellness.

The Spa will be completely reformed to modernize all services and installations. Considering that the gym is located within the same location, we will use the opportunity to update the facilities as well as all the equipment. This all with the sole purpose of keep offering the best product and the best experience to our guests.

During these months our distinguished clientele will have access to almost all services and treatments in our spa catalogue. For this purpose, we are improving the exterior spots on the beach and pools and habilitating massage cabins in villa 86 at Grand Palladium Palace Resort Spa & Casino, where therapies and treatments will be also available.

We would like to inform you that due to some work renovations at the Bavaro Swimming Pool, will remain closed from September 25th, 5:30 pm until September 30th.

Ready to trade in your daily chaos for a slice of paradise? Buckle up, because the Grand Palladium Kantenah Riviera Maya is about to become your new favorite family getaway. With their brand-new Family Selection at Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort & Spa, they’ve gone all out to ensure that every member of your brood, from the tiniest tots to the pickiest teens, is in for a treat. So, pack your bags, slap on that SPF 50 they provided in the room, and get ready to discover why this resort is not just a vacation spot, but a family adventure waiting to happen.

1. Private Check-in

As soon as you arrive the family amenities begin with a private kid-friendly check-in area just for families. While parents go through the check-in process kids can play and have a snack like bananas or apples and juice box in an airconditioned lounge. Kids can play pretend with the toys and older kids can play Playstation 5. There’s a fun candy bar in here too!

2. Family Rooms

Grand Palladium Kantenah has luxurious rooms that can sleep up to five people! On the bottom floor there are swim out rooms available. If needed they can provide baby amenities like baby monitors and bath products. My favorite features, a steamer for your clothes instead of an iron and the full size sunscreen and mosquito spray they provide.

3. A Dedicated Pool for Families with Kids

Family Selection at Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort & Spa has its own pool just for families that is fairly shallow and never crowded. Here they also provide sunscreen, have waiters that will bring food to your chairs, and a small playground. I also saw quite a few floaties for people to use too.

4. Kid's Club

There is a kid’s club for kids 4 – 12 with organized activities so parents can enjoy some free time.

5. Tween and Teen Club

For older kids there is a club just for them! They can play videos games, use the music room to jam out, go bowling, and more.

6. Baby Club

For babies ages 1 – 3 there is a little club just for them in the morning.

7. Private Beach Area

One section of the beach is set aside just for families staying at Kantenah with its own food and drink area. I spent an afternoon here and it was so peaceful. Kid’s will love the ice cream machine and sprinkle toppings!

8. Splash Section

Kid’s will have a blast playing in the two super shallow splash areas, both of which have several slides. This is near the main pool which means music will be playing and pop up lunches with hamburgers and hot dogs.

9. Loads of Restaurants and Bars

The dining options here are practically endless. There are so many restaurants and bars there is no way to try them all by the end of your vacation. Plus, there are food pop-ups like this one pictured at the pools. The tacos al pastor at the resort are delicious!

10. Access to TRS

While the kids are happily playing in one of the kid clubs parents can head over to the posh TRS resort for some adults-only time. The infinity pool with a cocktail is a great way to spend a few hours.
