Explained | What is IATA’s Travel Pass that IndiGo has signed up for, how does it work and other questions answered

Indigo is the only indian airline, so far, to have signed up for the trial in which more than 40 international airlines are participating. the international air transport association says the pass will facilitate international travel without the need to quarantine.

How will the pass work?

The pass is a mobile app that informs passengers about the tests, vaccines and other measures they need to take ahead of their travel. It has details on where they can get tested and also allows them to share their results as well as vaccination status with the authorities in a verifiable and safe manner.

The pass will provide governments the means to verify the authenticity of tests or vaccinations and identify those presenting their certificates. It will help airlines provide information on test requirements and ensure that a passenger meets the travel guidelines of their destination.

The pass will help laboratories to issue certificates that will be recognised by governments. The data collated by IATA will provide information on test requirements and ways to securely share the results and certificates with airlines as well as border authorities.

Why IndiGo is the only Indian airline participating in the pilot?

The trial is open to all airlines. On August 3, IndiGo announced it had partnered with IATA to become the first Indian airline to launch the pilot.

How will the Travel Pass help flyers?

The Travel Pass will help passengers to store and manage their verified certificates for COVID-19 tests as well as vaccines. Instead of carrying a paper certificate, a passenger can have these on the mobile phone. It is more secure and efficient than current paper processes used for managing health requirements (the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis, for example). This is important given the potentially enormous scale of testing or vaccine verifications that will be needed.

When will the pass be launched?

IndiGo hopes to launch the IATA Travel Pass in the third week of August on two of its international routes—Male and Doha. British Airways, Singapore Airlines, Qatar, Emirates and Turkish are among more than 40 airlines that are part of the pass trial.

Will this help the aviation industry?

IATA says its Travel Pass will help give governments the confidence to reopen borders without quarantine. To do so, governments need to be confident that they are not importing Covid. “Testing, or proof of vaccine, is the solution. IATA Travel Pass will manage and verify the secure flow of testing or vaccination information between governments, airlines, laboratories and travellers which will guarantee the traveller’s COVID-19 status,” IATA says.

But in India, since all borders are closed and international flights are only being operated under an air bubble arrangement, gains for IndiGo are expected to be limited.

However, with over 40 airlines part of the pilot, it opens up avenues for seamless travel for IndiGo passengers with carriers that have an interline agreement with the Indian carrier.

An interline agreement is a voluntary commercial agreement between various airlines for passengers requiring multiple flights on multiple airlines. Such agreements allow passengers to hop flights between airlines without gathering their bags or checking in again.

How effective will the pass be for Indian carriers and flyers?

I intend to travel from Colombo to Abudhabi using IndiGo. Their site asks for a negative PCR test done within 48 hours, I am from UK and my PCR was done a year ago. I have a QR code. Will I be denied boarding?

The following is what their site says.

The negative PCR certificate held by the customer must have a QR code on it linking it to their original test report and must have the date and time of sample collection and the test result mentioned accurately. Customers holding a negative PCR certificate without a QR code shall be denied boarded at the origin station

>>> I intend to travel from Colombo to Abudhabi using IndiGo. Their site asks for a negative PCR test done within 48 hours, I am from UK and my PCR was done a year ago. I have a QR code. Will I be denied boarding?<<<

**If** that is a requirement to fly with IndiGo, yes you will denied boarding.

That said are you sure the information is up to date? Negative PCR test result as an entry requirement for AD was lifted some considerable time ago. I'd be contacting IndiGo for clarification.

indigo travel certificate format

I'd also want clarification on whether it's still necessary. If it is, how could you think results from a PCR done a year ago would be in the slightest bit acceptable, for anything.

If they do want a pcr, then a year old test won’t be valid.

A year old test does not prove you don’t have covid today.

5 KEY Tips for Travelling during pregnancy by air in India

While talking to her, I recollected the time when I was pregnant with my son in 2018. When I was in my 28th week, I had to plan an unavoidable air travel from Mumbai to our hometown, Chandigarh. It took me a lot of time, banging my head on one website and another, to plan my pregnancy travel by air. I never though that it will be so difficult for pregnant women.

Through that exhaustive research I was able to help my friend. That’s when it struck me to compile all the information for every expecting mom who is planning to travel by air. Reason could be anything. While tech has kept us connected to each other but sometimes flying becomes inescapable. At times that implies to even a Babymoon away with your better half or an outing to a place that has constantly been on your bucket list. At that point flying is something you’ve got to do.

Regardless of whether you’re travelling during pregnancy on a short flight or preparing for a long stretch flight, I have tips on what to pack, how to experience security peacefully and what you have to know as far as safety is concerned.

At the point when you’re pregnant, travelling can be overwhelming, however trust me – it’s absolutely feasible if you plan properly. When I was researching about air travel during pregnancy, I found out that all the information was available in bits and pieces and few information you only get post experiencing it. I don’t want you guys to go through the same and I have penned it down for all you guys. For I have been in the same boat as you, I absolutely  understand how you feel.

So here is sharing some handy and useful tips to make your pregancy by air travel experience easier.

TIP #1 – KNOW WHEN CAN YOU FLY AND WHAT YOUR INSURANCE COVERS!

In the first, second, or third trimester? You’re presumably pondering when it’s ideal to fly.

  • For some people, the principal (1st) trimester is more troublesome due to morning sickness. Regardless of whether it’s due to food repugnance or motion sickness, flying can surely fuel that up further.
  • Primary (1st) trimester comes with a higher danger risk of miscarriage. So there is a need to be super extra careful if planning a travel during 1st trimester.
  • In case you’re arranging a Babymoon, unquestionably, hold up until you’re well and reach the subsequent (2nd) trimester. It makes you feel more relaxed healthwise. Most importantly, don’t forget to consult your travel plans with your doctor well in advance.

You may likewise need to check airline rules.

  • Numerous air carriers won’t let you fly following 28 weeks without a note from your physician, while numerous travel insurance companies, won’t cover up any retractions after your 32nd week (24 weeks for multiples).
  • If you need to fly late in your maternity, I suggest having your primary care physician’s consent and have supporting records printed and prepared, just in case you’re asked or questioned at check-in.
  • In case you’re travelling international, check the arrival country’s regulations for admitting pregnant ladies. Ensure that you’re mindful of what clinical administrations they can provide.

DOMESTIC FLIGHT RULES FOR TRAVELLING DURING PREGNANCY BY AIRLINES IN INDIA

(for major cariers)

Since all suppliers are separate entities , it is vital that you read the fine print from your insurance providers (including the one given by credit cards and airlines) when travelling during maternity.

  • Multiple insurance companies do not cover the event of premature birth or if your baby requires time in a NICU abroad as it could be viewed as a “pre existing condition.”
  • You additionally need to understand what your cancellation policy is for the trip, just for the off chance that keeps you from taking the trip.

TIP #2 – BUDGET FOR EXTRA TIME AT CHECK IN

There’s nothing more regrettable than feeling hurried and on the edge when you’re travelling during pregnancy..

In case you’re somebody who is typically fine with showing up at the air terminal 45 minutes before your flight, stretch that to one and a half hour to two hours.

  • This will give you an opportunity to discover somebody who can help you with your baggage, handle any surprising inquiries at check in and respond to gate changes appropriately.
  • This is particularly pivotal in case you’re pregnant AND travelling with another baby.
  • Showing up well before the time allows for multiple restroom breaks, spills and a truly necessary embrace from a friendly stranger or airline staff members.

TIP #3 – MAKE YOURSELF COMFORTABLE AT SECURITY

Many of us are concerned about going through screening technology or taking off our shoes in airport security.

  • While all the modern scanners are built on Millimeter – Wave Body technology which is safe for all passengers including expecting females.
  • It’s alright to request a physical search in case you’re not happy. At the point when you’re pregnant, you simply need to do what keeps you at ease.
  • To comfort you more, the multiple manufacturers have clarified that the Advanced Imaging Technology and stroll through metal indicator frameworks don’t utilize X-beams to create the picture, yet rather use non-ionizing electromagnetic waves that are reflected off the body.

TIP #4 – HELP! HELP! HELP!

Generally, individuals love helping pregnant ladies. There is something about carrying a newborn which seems to make people warmer and kinder, and it’s something you ought to thoroughly acknowledge with great enthusiasm.

One of the off chance that you need assistance getting a thing in or out of the overhead compartment, simply let an airline steward know. Same goes for huge packs when travelling globally.

TIP #5 – DRINK WATER &  EAT HEALTHY

At the point when you’re pregnant your child is actually and metaphorically draining the life out of you.

  • At this point when you’re flying, you’re increasingly prone to dehydration so DRINK WATER.
  • You may consider bringing an electrolyte substitution (ORS) drink on long stretch flights.
  • Additionally pack sound tidbits like carrot sticks, apple cuts and almonds to keep you satisfied.
  • In case you have nausea or have flying sickness, converse with your primary care physician about the prescriptions to take while on the way to your destination.

BONUS TIP – HOW & WHAT TO PACK!

Utilize a rucksack for a carry-on. This will help uniformly distribute the weight across your back and spare your sore body while trekking through the terminal.

  • As far as garments, I think most of the women loves wearing something a bit sporty or free and flowy.
  • Many ladies select leggings, however ensure they don’t cut into the center of your belly or in the rear of your knees.
  • Circulation is required when you’re pregnant, so dress in things that let the blood stream!
  • Change of garments
  • Pressure socks (particularly if you’ve been encountering swollen feet.
  • Huge sweater that can serve as a cover if necessary
  • Carrot sticks
  • Lemon cuts (in case you need to tackle nausea)
  • You may likewise need to pack your own dinner as plane food can be dehydrating
  • All Documents – fit to fly certificates
  • To wrap things up – a novel or podcast or online series or movies on Prime or Netflix that you can dive into!

So these were the tips which you can keep handy whenever planning an air travel during pregnancy. You can also share these with someone known who might find these useful.

Hope the tips will help you to have a comfortable journey. Wish you a safe travel!

How to get a certified copy of a death certificate

Many organizations require a certified copy of the death certificate when someone dies. How you get copies depends on whether the person died in the U.S. or abroad.

Death in the U.S.: how to get a certified copy of a death certificate

Contact the vital records office of the state where the death occurred to learn:

  • How to order a certified copy of a death certificate online, by mail, or in-person
  • How to get a copy fast
  • The cost for each certified copy

Can anyone get a copy of a death certificate?

Only certain family members may be able to obtain a death certificate when someone dies. This includes a spouse, siblings, and children. But death certificates can be requested by anyone when they become public record. In some states, death certificates are released 25 or more years after death. Check with your state’s vital records office to find out when death certificates become public record.

When to use a certified copy or a photocopy

You will need to purchase a certified copy of the death certificate for tasks such as:

  • Notifying the Social Security Administration and other government agencies
  • Closing or transferring credit cards and bank accounts
  • Claiming a person's life insurance or pension

You may only need a photocopy for other tasks, such as canceling a subscription. Check with the agency or organization handling each account.

Death of a U.S. citizen abroad: how to get death records

When a U.S. citizen dies in another country, the U.S. embassy or consulate should get a death certificate or notification from the foreign government. It will then issue a  Consular Report of Death Abroad (CRDA) . Use the CRDA in the U.S. as proof of death for closing accounts and handling legal tasks.

You can get up to 20 free certified copies at the time of death.  Order more copies of the CRDA from the Department of State.

Title Transfers and Changes

To prove vehicle ownership, it’s important to have a valid, up-to-date, and accurate California Certificate of Title. Here’s how you can transfer and change a title.

Transfer your Title online!

You can now transfer a title online. Learn more about the steps and get started.

How to Transfer a Title

Anytime there’s a change to a vehicle or vessel’s registered owner or lienholder, that change must be updated in DMV’s records within 10 days and the California Certificate of Title must be transferred to the new owner.

A change in ownership is usually due to:

  • Sale, gift, or donation
  • Adding or deleting the name of an owner
  • Inheritance
  • Satisfaction of lien (full payment of car loan)

To transfer a title, you will need:

  • Either the California Certificate of Title or an Application for Replacement or Transfer of Title (REG 227) (if the title is missing).
  • The signature(s) of seller(s) and lienholder (if any).
  • The signature(s) of buyer(s).
  • A transfer fee .

Depending on the type of transfer, you might need to complete and submit additional forms. See below for other title transfers and title transfer forms.

Submit your title transfer paperwork and fee (if any) to a DMV office or by mail to:

DMV PO Box 942869 Sacramento, CA 94269

Rush Title Processing

If you need us to expedite your title processing, you can request rush title processing for an additional fee.

Transfer Fees

Depending on the type of transfer, you may need to pay the following fees:

  • Replacement title
  • Use tax, based on the buyer’s county of residence
  • Registration

See the full list of fees .

Renewal fees and parking/toll violation fees don’t need to be paid to issue a replacement California Certificate of Title.

Title Transfer Forms

These forms may be required when transferring ownership of a vehicle or vessel:  Application for Replacement or Transfer of Title (REG 227) Vehicle/Vessel Transfer and Reassignment (REG 262) form (call the DMV’s automated voice system at 1-800-777-0133 to have a form mailed to you) Statement of Facts (REG 256) Lien Satisfied/Title Holder Release (REG 166) Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability Smog certification Vehicle Emission System Statement (Smog) (REG 139) Declaration of Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW)/Combined Gross Vehicle Weight (CGW) (REG 4008) Affidavit for Transfer without Probate (REG 5) Bill of Sale (REG 135) Verification of Vehicle (REG 31)

Other Title Transfers

When you’re buying a new car or a used car from a dealership, the dealer will handle the paperwork and you’ll receive your title from DMV in the mail.

When vehicle ownership is transferred between two private parties, it’s up to them to transfer the title. If you have the California Certificate of Title for the vehicle , the seller signs the title to release ownership of the vehicle. The buyer should then bring the signed title to a DMV office to apply for transfer of ownership.

If you don’t have the California Certificate of Title , you need to use an Application for Replacement or Transfer of Title (REG 227) to transfer ownership. The lienholder’s release, if any, must be notarized. The buyer should then bring the completed form to a DMV office and we will issue a new registration and title.

Make sure you have all signatures on the proper lines to avoid delays.

Other Steps for the Seller When Vehicle Ownership is Transferred

  • 10 years old or older.
  • Commercial with a GVW or CGW of more than 16,000 pounds.
  • New and being transferred prior to its first retail sale by a dealer.
  • Complete a Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability (NRL) within 5 days of releasing ownership and keep a copy for your records.

Once the seller gives the buyer all required documentation and DMV receives the completed NRL, the seller’s part of the transaction is complete.

*If the vehicle has been sold more than once with the same title, a REG 262 is required from each seller.

Other Steps for the Buyer When Vehicle Ownership is Transferred

  • Current registered owner(s), how names are joined (“and/or”), and lienholder/legal owner (if any).
  • License plate number, vehicle identification number (VIN), make, model, year, and registration expiration date.
  • Title brands (if any).
  • Words “Nontransferable/No California Title Issued,” indicating a California title was not issued and a REG 227 cannot be used (see FAQs).
  • Get a smog inspection (if applicable).

Once the buyer has provided the DMV with all the proper documents and fees, the vehicle record is updated to reflect the change of ownership and a registration card is issued.

A new title is issued from DMV headquarters within 60 calendar days.

To transfer a vehicle between family members, submit the following:

  • The California Certificate of Title properly signed or endorsed on line 1 by the registered owner(s) shown on the title. Complete the new owner information on the back of the title and sign it.
  • A Statement of Facts (REG 256) for use tax and smog exemption (if applicable).
  • Odometer disclosure for vehicles less than 10 years old.
  • Transfer fee .

You may transfer a vehicle from an individual to the estate of that individual without signatures on the Certificate of Title.

Submit the following:

  • The California Certificate of Title. On the back of the title, the new owner section must show “Estate of (name of individual)” and their address. Any legal owner/lienholder named on the front of the title must be re-entered on the back of the title.
  • A Statement of Facts (REG 256) confirming the owner is deceased and Letters Testamentary have not been issued. The person completing the statement must indicate their relationship to the deceased.

Use tax and a smog certification are not required.

Vehicle ownership can be transferred to a deceased owner’s heir 40 days after the owner’s death, as long as the value of the deceased’s property in California does not exceed:

  • $150,000 if the deceased died before 1/1/20.
  • $166,250 if the deceased died on or after 1/1/20.

If the heir will be the new owner, submit the following to a DMV office:

  • The California Certificate of Title. The heir must sign the deceased registered owner’s name and countersign on line 1. The heir should complete and sign the back of the title.
  • Affidavit for Transfer without Probate (REG 5) , completed and signed by the heir.
  • An original or certified copy of the death certificate of all deceased owners.

If the heir prefers to sell the vehicle, the buyer also needs (in addition to the items above):

  • Bill of Sale (REG 135) from the heir to the buyer.
  • Transfer fee (two transfer fees are due in this case).

To transfer vessel ownership, submit the following:

  • The California Certificate of Ownership. The registered owner signs line 1. The legal owner/lienholder (if any) signs line 2. Complete the new owner information on the back of the certificate and sign it.
  • Bill(s) of sale, if needed to establish a complete chain of ownership.
  • A Vessel Registration Fee .
  • Use tax based on the tax rate percentage for your county of residence.

After you sell a vessel, complete a Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability (NRL) within five days of releasing ownership and keep a copy for your records.

How to Update or Change a Title

Because a California Certificate of Title is a legal document, it is important to keep it accurate and up-to-date. Here’s how you can update or change a title.

Order a Replacement California Certificate of Title

You must order a replacement California Certificate of Title when the original is lost, stolen, damaged, illegible, or not received.

To order a replacement title, submit the following:

  • Application for Replacement or Transfer of Title (REG 227) .
  • The original title (if you have it).
  • California photo driver license (if submitting form in person).
  • Replacement title fee .
  • If another replacement title was issued in the past 90 days, a Verification of Vehicle (REG 31) completed by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). This requirement only applies if the registered owner’s name or address doesn’t match DMV records*.

You can submit your application either in-person* at a DMV office or by mail:

Department of Motor Vehicles Registration Operations PO Box 942869 Sacramento, California 94269-0001

If you’re submitting your form to a DMV office, we recommend you make an appointment so you can avoid any lines.

You’ll receive your title by mail 15-30 calendar days from the date you submit the replacement title application.

*If you’re applying for a replacement title and the registered owner’s name or address doesn’t match DMV records (except for obvious typographical errors), you must submit your application in person with proof of ownership (e.g. registration card) and an acceptable photo ID (e.g. driver’s license/ID card).

Online Replacement Title Request

Visit our Virtual Office to request a replacement title online.

Change or Correct a Name on a Title

Your true full name must appear on your vehicle or vessel California Certificate of Title and registration card. If your name is misspelled, changes (e.g as a result of marriage or divorce), or is legally changed, you need to correct your name on your title.

To change or correct your name, submit:

  • California Certificate of Title with your correct name printed or typed in the “New Registered Owner” section
  • A completed Name Statement in Section F of the Statement of Facts (REG 256) .

You may submit your application to any DMV office or by mail to:

Department of Motor Vehicles Vehicle Registration Operations PO Box 942869 Sacramento, CA 94269-0001

Removing Information that was Entered by Mistake

If a name or other information is entered on a title by mistake, complete a Statement to Record Ownership (REG 101) .
