Quick review of what to look out for when choosing a CoverZone Car Cover

Keeping your pride and joy in pristine condition is really important for all car enthusiasts. This includes shielding your car from dust, adverse weather, harmful UV rays, bird droppings, scratches or the local cats who find your soft-top comfy.

Once the car has been cleaned, waxed and buffed it can be a great idea to wrap it up, safe and sound, ready for the next adventure. Carnoisseur now offer a full range of high quality car covers , tailored to fit your specific vehicle, and suitable for a range of circumstances.

The CoverZone covers range offers a number of clear benefits and various options to choose from, so here are a few helpful tips on what to look out for when buying a car cover.

Garage or Driveway

First decision is based on where the car will live while it's under wraps – indoors or outdoors. Indoor covers for garage and showroom usage are available in two grades of features, Kalahari and Sahara, and offer soft protection from dust and moisture. Outdoor covers have a wider number of options (Monsoon, Stormforce, Voyager and Apollo) with the main differences being the level of water protection, durability and types of fabrics used.

If you are choosing a cover for outdoor usage then think about the length of time the car is to be covered, the position of the car and exposure to sun, rain, trees and likelihood of bumps and knocks. The prices can vary significantly from around £60 for a lightweight quick and simple cover to over £400 for a Teflon coated premium protection cover.

Indoor car covers explained

Storing a car in a garage obviously offers ideal protection against the elements, but there is still the risk from dust, dirt, moisture and scratches. That's why a good quality car cover, such as CoverZone , is a small price to pay to keep the paintwork in top condition whilst in storage.

There are two levels of protection of indoor CoverZone car covers : Sahara and Kalahari.

Sahara: starting from around £55, the Sahara indoor cover offers long-term storage protection with a fully breathable material that is tailored to fit the specific make and model of vehicle. The cover is a single layer fabric that is UV ray resistant and also fully washable. All Sahara covers have a 12 month warranty, but are expected to last well over 10 years and are suitable for all temperature ranges. A really useful feature is the durable zipped storage bag, for when the car is out and about on the road.

Kalahari: this is the king of luxury indoor protection. Starting from around £122 this cover is made from soft breathable polar fleece, guaranteed not to scratch or leave any fluff on the paintwork. The cover is tailored to the exact curves and contours of the vehicle and hugs the bodywork through its stretchy construction. These quality covers are made to order which means you have a choice of 10 colours and can even select contracting piping and side panels if you desire – for that custom designer finish. The cover is fully washable, UV resistant and suitable for all temperatures. The handy storage bag is a nice bonus too.

The great outdoor covers – all weather protection

So, in the UK, we either have a heatwave or a hurricane, sometimes just a day apart. Up to our knees in snow one day and slapping on factor 50 the next. We struggle to cope, but so does the paintwork on your prized automobile. Cars that are left stationary, like many classics, will often suffer from sun fading due to UV rays or discolouring of soft tops. Bird droppings and general air contaminants also stick to the paintwork and cause damage. Therefore, it makes sense to invest in a cover to maintain the value and appearance of the vehicle. There is also the security aspect of masking the make and model of the car from passing potential thieves and making it far more hassle to try and break in.

There are four levels of protection available from CoverZone : Voyager, Stormforce, Monsoon and Apollo.

Voyager: this is the cheapest range, starting around £27.50 but still a fantastic lightweight waterproof cover. Tailored for every vehicle, very quick and easy to fit and compresses down into a very small storage bag. The Voyager fabric is a premium single layer polyester which is breathable yet still highly tear resistant. The silver surface is also UV resistant and reflects heat, ideal for Summer, but designed for all year round use.

Stormforce: the best-selling range, starting at around £50 and still tailored to fit each vehicle perfectly. CoverZone Stormforce uses a 4 layer construction; strong tear-proof outer, padded second layer, waterproof breathable membrane and then a soft inner lining against the car's paintwork. Stormforce offers perfect all year-round protection, dries incredibly quickly and the cover can even be fitted to a wet vehicle as the moisture is allowed to escape. Stormforce covers come complete with a sturdy zipped storage bag and also an extended 2 year warranty.

Monsoon: starting from around £123, Monsoon covers are designed for long-term storage, especially through winter months. Great in low temperatures, so ideal protection from winter snow and keeping the paintwork completely dry. Double layer construction with a tough PVC outer and soft inner liner plus heat sealed seems and vents to release condensation. UV resistant for summer but it's the waterproof winter protection that is the real attraction of Monsoon covers. Fully washable, sturdy storage bag and extended 2 year warranty.

Apollo: starting from £174, Apollo covers represent the very finest quality car cover for long-term storage and protection outdoors. Fully tailored stretch fit covers made to order in a choice of colours. The triple layer construction offers a soft inner, waterproof membrane and then a specially coated outer that beads off water. Fully waterproof, UV resistant and ideal for high and low temperatures for all-year round total protection. Supplied with a storage bag and 12 month warranty.

Bit of history:

• Bought in May 2019, kept on car for most days until September 2019, when car went for bodywork.
• Cover was aired, folded, and kept in a dry place until June 21.
• Used for just over 2 months in 2021 (i.e. 6 months exposed to the elements) - this is the condition 12 August 2021.

Hi, yes horribly familiar, mine have lasted slightly longer, i suspect whilst being water proof and allowing breathing they don’t like the uv sunlight.

and also an over tight fit on an MPi.

The same has happened to mine, but it has lasted much longer than yours before breaking down (approx year and a 1/2 to two years). For me I'd rather have a cover that protects what's underneath it and gradually breaks down than something that lasts forever, but doesn't breath and ends up rotting what your trying to protect....unless anyone knows of a better cover for a mini!

These are not as good as they make out, having bought 2 of these and other copies, which with luck you get 18 months use . I ended up buying a trike cover , the trike cover replacement is far cheaper .and last a lot longer

I use mine under the trike cover only in the winter months

Seriously - I have three of these Stormforce type covers (not the brick/tile ones unfortunately)  and the first one I got is on its last legs - about three years old

Coverzone have now developed a side protection buffer system that they can install in your new cover prior to despatch. This clever option permanently fixes a strip of high impact buffer pads along the side of the car in the door and side panel area where they are most vulnerable to door dings and scuffs.

The buffer pads are permanently fitted to the cover with double stitching and whilst they do not absolutely guarantee that your car will remain in pristine condition, they will provide much more protection in all those visible areas that are both costly and difficult to repair.
