Starting out under the name Groundswell, alternative rock band Three Days Grace from Ontario, Canada took shape in 1997 and have since sold over six million records in the US alone, also sharing the stage with Seether, Shinedown, Avenged Sevenfold and Bullet For My Valentine.

Having run its course under the name Groundswell, members relocated to Toronto, Canada under the new name Three Days Grace in 1997. At the time the line-up consisted of Adam Gontier (vocals, guitar), Neil Sanderson (drums) and Brad Walst (bass). With the relocation, the trio soon became acquainted with local producer Gavin Brown. It was Brown who helped them to create the demos which would catch the attention of EMI Publishing Canada. With the label showing remarkable interest and eager to hear more material from the guys, in the process they created the track “(I Hate) Everything About You”. In 2003 the band signed with Jive Records.

Later in 2003, the band would release their debut self-titled album which peaked at number nine in the Canadian music charts and certified platinum. The album featured the singles “Home”, “Just Like You” and the breakthrough track “(I Hate) Everything About You” which rapidly became a radio hit. With a successful debut, the band spent the next two years touring nationwide.

2006 came the release of their second album “One-X” which explored more of a metal infusion as Three Days Grace continued receiving critical acclaim as the album peaked at number five in the Billboard Top 200. The album churned out the hit singles “Animal I Have Become”, “Pain” and “Never Too Late”. Supporting the release of the album, the band toured across Canada and US for the latter part of 2006 and the majority of 2007.

Acquiring a novelty release pattern of a three year gap, Three Days Grace released their third album “Life Starts Now” in 2009 to mixed reviews with some critics praising Gontier’s ability to shed light on his personal demons with artistic integrity. Selling over 75,000 copies alone in the first week of release, the album peaked at number three in the Billboard Top 200. Soon after the release, the band hopped on tour with Buckcherry and Nickelback on the Dark Horse Fall Tour 2010.

After releasing their fourth album “Transit of Venus” (2012), Gontier announced his departure in 2013 and the following year was replaced by Matt Walst as Three Days Grace welcomed a new chapter and dimension to the band as they continue to evolve their sound.

Live reviews

I loved this concert! The opening groups were Devour The Day and Finger Eleven both of whom put on great shows with Devour being a bit higher in energy. I was in the third row in front of the stage so it was definitely in my face!

Three Days Grace was awesome and Matt Walst certainly had lots of energy with repeated jumps from the drum platform and midair splits. It was incredibly hot in the venue and we were all sweating (indoors) with members of all three bands just dripping and being drenched in sweat in no time. Nevertheless, they put on one heck of a show with Three Days Grace doing a good mix of old and new songs.

They had a deal at the merch table (at least early on) that if you bought the Human CD for $20 it got you into the "aftershow" to meet the band and get the CD signed (no pictures allowed). I did this and while we were rushed by event staff, who apologized but said that two members of the band were really sick and had been all night, it was cool to do the signing. I took my one and only chance (more than likely) to thank them for the unique ALS Ice Bucket Challenge they did by going to Alaska and jumping in glacial water (Matt said it was cold) because my mother died from ALS on 9/1/13. I never thought in a million years when I watched that video that I'd have the opportunity to thank them for it personally. They were all very gracious and are a classy bunch of rockers!

So, even though a couple of them were really sick that night they were true rockers and put on a kick ass show! If they played like this feeling bad, I can't imagine how they are when they're all healthy but I plan on finding out because I'll be at the next show that comes through Nashville.

Oh, and I caught the towel that Matt used and threw into the crowd so, needless to say, my night was FANTASTIC!!! Go see 3DG if they come to your area.

I will not see Three Days Grace again, until they have a new lead singer. I was absolutely DISGUSTED by Matt Walst's performance and *pray* that every single person that sees him perform gets to see a Papa Roach show so they can see Jacoby Shaddix perform the way he has for 22 years. Walst can be a fan, a groupie, or an understudy, but it sickens me to think that people will attribute the performance to him, when it was a disgustingly obvious copy of Jacoby's SOP. Although he was able to copy the signature style, it is clear he doesn't have heart, which Papa Roach has never had a shortage of.

Initially, I was ready to feel bad for Walst. Given that people know the name "Adam Gontier," it was easy to see that he'd have to prove himself. He failed miserably. I would have rather had the live band with a recorded vocal track for the songs released with Adam's vocals. For songs since Walst has joined the band, there is far less troublesome discrepancy, although I don't feel he's the right fit for the band.

But, seriously, he needs to get his own style. Jacoby is amazing. However, copying him doesn't make you amazing. It makes you a jacka**.

Who doesn't like at least one Three Days Grace song? If you claim you don't, go to You Tube and listen to the first five tracks and tell me you still don't, I bet you can't! Even if you aren't as familiar with their music you can still attend a show without feeling completely lost, the vocals and instruments are well balanced.

If you are sometimes disappointed when the overall sound and ambiance differs during a live show? Well fortunately Three Days Grace is one of those bands that manages to keep a consistent sound whether in studio or live at a venue. Although not as flamboyant as other artists I've seen live the guys in Three Days Grace clearly go above and beyond to provide an excellent show for the audience. The atmosphere definitely pumps you up but at the same time it's not overwhelming if you happen to drag a friend along who isn't familiar with the music. The usual concert pit was mild at best and the vibe overall was pretty chill. Attending this show for a date wouldn't be a too far fetched idea either, don't let the laid-back vibe detour you. It's definitely worth checking out!

Once I first heard that Three Days Grace planned to come to The Netherlands, I couldn't believe it. Since their popularity is relatively small, I didn't expect the tickets to be sold out. Yet, they were. It wasn't that big of a venue they played in, but still big enough for 2000 people.

Once I arrived to the venue, I noticed the nice and close setting. The stage wasn't high and no matter where you stood, you could see the entire stage. The support act was Were Are The Ocean, which I thought was more Indie-Rock, not quite fitting in with the fibe TDG had. However, I still enjoyed their music, but there were some that complained about how they were too calm in their playing.

The concert was absolutely amazing; once TDG came up, the almost uniting feeling is really taking over. There were some moshpits going on and Matt even came in the crowd. But if you get anything out of this review, I'd say you buy those tickets cause they are worth the price. You'll have an amazing time.

This was my first time seeing Three Days Grace and I gotta say I was a little wary of spending so much money to see a radio rock band. It was worth every penny. Club shows are usually always cool no matter what, but the energy that Three Days Grace brought was astounding! Their presentation and stage props were amazing and made the concert experience that much more awe-inspiring. What was most fun about this show was that everyone knew the lyrics to all the songs so we were all singing together, screaming our hearts out to lyrics we'd grown up singing alone to. The newer songs were just as fun to sing as well. If you're on the fence about whether you should bother seeing them or not, I strongly suggest you do. Every single song was fun to listen and sing along to and their stage presence was among the best that I've seen.

At first I was worried that TDG were going to be poor live due to the amount of hate Matt Walst got for not being Adam but as soon as they started playing it was obvious those people were soured by a new vocalist being in the band even though it’s been years since he joined. Matt had an insane amount of energy on stage and his vocals were absolutely incredible! Barry, Brad and Neil did exactly what they needed to keep the songs as faithful to the studio work as possible and in the end it far surpassed my expectations. As a fan for around 8-9years I can certainly say they are worth seeing live! If anybody gets the chance to see them then don’t miss out.

I have seen Three Days Grace 7 times with their original singer Adam Gontier and once with the new singer Matt Walst, and I believe they have and will continue to perform amazing shows. Matt is a terrific vocalist, and seeing him fill the obviously big shoes of Adam after he left, made it clear to me that he is also a terrific guy as he didn't let the 3DG fans down who had already purchased tickets to the shows that Adam bailed on. Don't get me wrong, I love Adam's past and present musical endeavors, but Matt will keep 3DG going and has brought a new kind of awesomeness to the band. All four members clearly click, and they all put on a great show.

It’s been about ten years since I was fully into three days grace. But once I saw that they were touring in London, I got my ticket :) I dragged my boyfriend along too, but I’m certain he enjoyed them.

It was really refreshing for me because they remind me of who I was when I was a little emo. Also this year hasn’t been the greatest, my best friend of 13 years took her own life a few months back, but she was part of the reason why I got into this kind of music, seeing them really made me feel a little bit normal for a while.

The only criticism I could think of is the music could of been a bit louder :)

I have been to quite a few concerts in my short time so far but this one was beyond compare. Three Days Grace put on a show that rocked so hard, I couldn't talk the next day, because I was screaming THE. WHOLE. TIME. They took control, Matt and Barry had excellent stage presence, Brad's crowd control was insane, Neil proved how much skill he had on the drums (Spoiler alert: it's a lot.) and Dani (Who doesn't get enough credit for what he does) Owned. Clearly, I believe it to have been an incredible show (My favorite concert I have ever been to) and I plan to go again, whenever they roll back around to Denver.

I've been a true 3 Days Grace fan since the beginning, even before they made it big. This concert was very disappointing for me with their new lead singer destroying all of their amazing songs that helped me through my high school years and kept me strong afterwards. It was like bad karaoke. I actually walked out after the 3rd song because I was so pissed off at how bad the singer was. I wasted my money and will never see "3 Days Grace" in concert again! The guys would've been better off forming a completely different band. Adam's voice, especially live,is irreplaceable!!
