Thinking of leasing a Hyundai Tucson?
The U.S. News Best Price Program saves users an average of $2,287 off the MSRP, and a lower price equals lower monthly lease payments. That means you could see a savings of $90 a month on a 36-month lease.
Drive and Performance 6.6 /10
The Tucson delivers a smooth and comfortable ride. Few will accuse this crossover of being sporty, but the steering feels responsive, and available all-wheel drive improves road grip. This Hyundai comes with a 187-horsepower four-cylinder engine. It doesn’t make enough power for quick acceleration, and the eight-speed automatic transmission struggles to keep up. Still, this powertrain gets the job done as long as you're not looking for brisk zero-to-60 times.
We review the Tucson Hybrid and Tucson Plug-In Hybrid separately.

Fuel Economy 7.0 /10
The 2025 Tucson’s gas mileage is about average for a compact SUV . Front-wheel-drive models get an EPA-estimated 25 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. With all-wheel drive, the Tucson returns 24/30 mpg city/highway.
Interior 8.7 /10
The Tucson's roomy five-seat cabin is a comfortable place to spend time. Supportive seats make long drives much more bearable, and rear-seat headroom is particularly good for the class. Despite its competitive price, the Tucson sports a stylish, modern cabin with upgrades like genuine leather upholstery and a leather-wrapped steering wheel available in the higher trims.
Few rivals offer as much cargo space as the Tucson. It touts a maximum cargo capacity of 80.3 cubic feet, achieved by folding down the rear seats. With those seats upright, you get a useful 41.2 cubic feet. A hands-free power liftgate is standard in all but the base trim. Also, the Tucson can tow up to 2,000 pounds when properly equipped.

For installing child safety seats, there are two complete sets of LATCH connectors for the rear outboard seats and a tether anchor for the rear middle seat.
Quality and Reliability 80.0 /100
The 2025 Hyundai Tucson does not have a predicted reliability score at the time of writing.
Critics’ Rating 8.6 /10

How Much Is a 2025 Hyundai Tucson?
The 2025 Tucson’s starting price of $28,355 is on the low side for the compact SUV class. The base SE trim comes with a solid list of features improved for 2025 to include a 12.3-inch touch screen and proximity keyless entry. Step up to the SEL trim ($30,215) for extras like heated front seats, a digital key and wireless device charging. The SEL Convenience ($32,665) ups the ante with synthetic leather upholstery, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and more. The XRT trim costs the same as the SEL Convenience but adds adventurous upgrades including blacked-out styling, a tow hitch and upgraded roof rails. The range-topping Tucson Limited ($38,295) costs quite a bit more than the rest of the lineup, but it offers the most luxurious and cutting-edge features, such as genuine leather upholstery and a fingerprint scanner.
Which Is the Best Hyundai Tucson Model to Buy?
The base SE trim is a great choice. It comes with the best part of the Tucson’s tech glow-up – the 12.3-inch infotainment touch screen. Other perks include standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, proximity keyless entry and push-button start. The SE trim also features a slew of safety tech, including blind-spot monitoring and driver-attention monitoring. The Tucson SE’s lengthy standard features list makes it hard to justify the nearly $1,900 jump in price to the SEL trim.

U.S. News Expert Review
The Tucson is Hyundai's best-selling vehicle in America by a wide margin, so when it came time to update the popular SUV, the South Korean brand followed a "less is more" approach, at least on the outside. It takes a keen eye to spot the exterior differences, the most prominent being a tweaked grille with blockier LED running lights, but the interior of the refreshed 2025 Tucson is a different story. The new dashboard looks more modern and upscale, and it shares more in common with Hyundai's other SUVs, including the subcompact Kona and midsize Santa Fe . I spent a week driving the updated 2025 Hyundai Tucson Limited AWD ($39,795 as tested), and this compact SUV left a positive impression. It's well worth your consideration next to rivals like the Toyota RAV4 , Honda CR-V and Nissan Rogue .
What We Like
One of the Tucson's big appeals is its value proposition, and that reputation continues for 2025. The SUV starts at a comparatively low $28,605, comes packed with standard tech and safety features, and is covered by a lengthy 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. Even the fully loaded Limited trim I tested felt like a good value, thanks to luxuries like leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats and heated rear seats. As mentioned, the Tucson's cabin has a premium appearance with impressive fit and finish, and it's home to a sleek yet user-friendly widescreen infotainment system. I'm a big fan of Hyundai's blind-spot camera system as well, which displays a video feed of the appropriate blind spot (left or right) when the turn signal is activated. I found the front seats to be comfy, supportive and more than roomy enough for my 6-foot-2-inch frame. I could even fit comfortably in the second row with wiggle room to spare. And don't worry about packing light. The Tucson's cargo area can swallow a bunch of carry-on bags and groceries.
What We Don't Like
My only issue with the Tucson has to do with its climate controls. Every trim level, except for the base SE model, has a touch-sensitive panel in the center of the dashboard that manages the air conditioning functions. The actual icons are well laid-out, but the panel's gloss-black finish makes it very tough to see in direct sunlight, especially when wearing polarized sunglasses. On the bright side, at least these functions haven't been buried in the touch screen, unlike in some rivals.
How It Drove
I wouldn't say the Hyundai Tucson is particularly exciting to drive, but its coolness does have advantages. The Tucson glides over rough pavement with impressive composure, providing a supple and relaxing ride. The SUV maneuvers confidently in tight areas and keeps body lean in check around turns, although its minimally weighted steering offers little to no driver feedback. If you're looking for a sportier experience, the Mazda CX-50 is going to be a better option. Under the hood, the Tucson packs a 187-horsepower four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. This setup delivers lackluster passing power, with the engine producing more high-rpm revving than forward progress, but otherwise the powertrain proved to be a smooth operator. The Tucson scoots off the line and around town with respectable verve, cruising nicely on the highway. The transmission served up seamless and relatively quick gear changes. I averaged 27.1 mpg after a few hundred miles of driving. It's EPA-rated at 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway (25 and 33 mpg, respectively, for front-wheel-drive models).
Is the 2025 Hyundai Tucson a Good SUV?
Yes, the 2025 Hyundai Tucson is a good compact SUV . It’s a class leader in terms of passenger space, cargo room and standard features. It delivers a cushioned ride and keeps its composure around corners, but acceleration is too slow to make this a lively ride. A less-than-polished transmission is partly to blame.
Several of the Tucson’s rivals offer a similar blend of practicality, value and comfort, including the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 . Check out the Mazda CX-5 if livelier performance is what you’re after, but be prepared to give up some seating and cargo space. If you like the Tucson but want a little more oomph and better gas mileage, consider the Tucson Hybrid or Tucson Plug-In Hybrid , the latter of which has a small all-electric driving range in addition to fuel-efficient hybrid performance.
2024 vs. 2025 Hyundai Tucson: What's the Difference?
The Tucson receives a midcycle refresh for 2025, with styling updates inside and out. It also gets revamped infotainment offerings with a standard 12.3-inch touch screen and options like a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12-inch color head-up display. Hyundai adds proximity keyless entry and push-button start to the standard features list and debuts Baby Mode, which dulls throttle responses to keep sleeping babies from waking.

Here are the key changes for the Hyundai Tucson over the last few years:

2025 Hyundai Tucson Versus the Competition
Hyundai tucson vs. honda cr-v.
The Honda CR-V and Tucson are two of the roomiest compact SUVs in terms of passenger and cargo space. Each crossover is also known for its serene ride and user-friendly features. Like the Tucson, the CR-V’s powertrain performance leaves something to be desired. The Honda touts better performance overall, and it costs the average driver $100 less per year to fuel than the Hyundai. That said, the Tucson offers more value with a higher maximum cargo capacity, more advanced features and a lower starting price by more than $1,700.
Compare the Tucson and CR-V »
Hyundai Tucson vs. Mazda CX-5
If you’re willing to trade some practicality for performance, consider the Mazda CX-5 . Like the Tucson, the Mazda delivers a smooth ride, but the CX-5 has sharper handling and quicker acceleration, especially with its available turbocharged engine. Although it doesn’t have as much rear-seat legroom or cargo space, the CX-5’s cabin is more refined. That said, a smaller display with finicky controls and no standard wireless functionality for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto make the CX-5’s infotainment system less up to date and user-friendly.

"Success can be brash and loud but more often than not, it is a quiet achievement found through boring work. Like an athlete toiling away day after day or a student hitting the books late into the night, the refreshed Tucson succeeds by excelling at the mundane. It's neither the quickest in its class, nor the most fuel-efficient, but the striking looks, confident driving style, and bang-for-your-buck interior make the Hyundai into a compelling package."
"Hyundai is well into its stride as a builder of impressive and desirable vehicles, and the Tucson is a prime example."
“Those who do will probably discover a compact crossover with the most appealing interior ergonomics and respectable driving dynamics of this increasingly competitive segment. And, though the exterior's minimal alterations may seem relatively restrained, the combined improvements no doubt reveals Hyundai's continued aspirations of world domination, a task that the playful Tucson clearly takes very seriously."
