Embraer To Airbus: What Do You Make Of Breeze Airways' Fleet Shift?

It has now been more than three years since Breeze Airways commenced operations, with the David Neeleman-led startup carrier having flown its first scheduled services in May of 2021. In the time that has followed, the airline's young fleet has begun to undergo an interesting transition, shifting its focus from the Embraer E-Jet series to the Airbus A220-300. With more and more A220s having been delivered, Breeze is moving to shift the focus of its Embraer operations from scheduled services to charter flights. In a recent interview with Simple Flying, founder and CEO David Neeleman confirmed that Breeze's remaining E-Jets will start to go off lease in 2026, while also reflecting that it would have been easier to have an all-A220 fleet from the outset.
