Most Alaskan cruises that depart from Seattle or Vancouver travel up the Inside Passage to stop in popular ports like Ketchikan and Juneau, but Skagway is often talked about as one of the best! If you aren’t sure where Skagway is, it’s a small town located in Southeast Alaska and is known for its rich history during the Klondike Gold Rush. On our road trip to Alaska, we found that Skagway was a very walkable town, with most of the main attractions and shops located within a few blocks of the cruise port.

Thanks to having our own vehicle, we were able to get around to all of the main attractions in the area with ease, but if you’ll be arriving in Alaska via cruise, then that’s where the shore excursions come into play!
