Comedian Janey Godley has cancelled her autumn tour after being readmitted to hospital due to her ongoing treatment for terminal ovarian cancer.
The 63-year-old from Glasgow had planned to kick off her Why Is She Still Here? tour with events planned in cities across the UK including London, Belfast and Edinburgh.
But her doctors advised that she should stop working "for the foreseeable future".
Ms Godley, who found viral fame with her dubbed videos of Nicola Sturgeon's Covid briefings during the pandemic, revealed she had ovarian cancer in November 2021.
She was given the all-clear in 2022 but a later scan discovered signs of the disease again.
In a video posted , external on social media, Ms Godley said she had been in hospital for eight days with sepsis.
She said the sepsis was under control but her cancer was spreading, so her doctors had advised her to focus on recovery.
The comedian apologised to fans, saying: "I know people booked hotels and trains and everything - I'm so, so sorry.
"If I could go in my hospital bed I would. But I'm going to be in hospital for another couple of days.
"Thank you so much for all your love and support."
A statement to the PA news agency said Ms Godley had been living with stage four ovarian cancer for the past few years.
It read: "The treatment from the wonderful Scottish NHS has kept the disease at bay, but sadly in the last few weeks the cancer has returned and there have been a few added complications.
"Her doctors have now advised her that she must stop work for the foreseeable future."
A spokesperson said she was "devastated" to let down "loyal fans and the wonderful venues".
In 2022 the comedian was given the all-clear and said in a social media post that a scan showed "no evidence of disease".

Janey Godley ‘Not Dead Yet’ Tour
Feb 14, 2023
DATE / TIME: Tuesday, February 14, 2023 - Wednesday, February 15, 2023 8:00 pm
Janey Godley is ‘still alive, by popular demand’ with a brand-new show for 2023 and can’t wait to be back doing what she does best! Janey will be supported by Ashley Storrie, the award-winning comedian best known for hosting BBC Radio Scotland’s Friday nights, and guest slot on Breaking The News.
A few words from Janey:
My past year has been like a giant “Wordle” game that has swept the nation, I went from “cancel to cancer” in 6 weeks. No, I didn’t smack a man live at the Oscars, in front of millions of people, but I have apologised profusely for historic offensive tweets from over 11 years ago and ended up as the torn worn out pass the parcel for tribal politics in Scotland. All my own doing, but now it’s time to laugh, live and celebrate after dealing this dreadful disease.
I suffered severe mental illness during the online onslaught and whilst on my last tour in 2021 found a giant tumour in my ovary giblets and had to FIGHT to stay alive. Never one for the conventional path in life, I am still NOT DEAD YET and bringing my tour back on the road. So many stories of heart-warming love and outpouring of support to the occasional daily messages hoping I might die soon because … well I am a woman who answered back.
There will be voiceovers and anecdotes, straight from the woman wouldn’t die or shut up. Come join me!

An honest, moving and often hilarious documentary about comic Janey Godley, interweaving stories from her life with footage from her Not Dead Yet tour in the wake of her cancer diagnosis. Janey Godley will perform a 45 minute stand-up comedy set after the screening.
Janey Godley takes centre stage in this engaging and insightful documentary about the fearless and funny comic. Janey found fame for her sweary anti-Trump placards and became a social media sensation as she re-voiced First Minister Nicola Sturgeon’s Covid briefings.

That didn’t stop her from going on tour and director John Archer interweaves fly-on-the-wall footage with interviews from people such as Jimmy Carr, Nicola Sturgeon, and Janey’s daughter, Ashley, that reveal details of a difficult Glasgow childhood.

Alas, she later informed fans that a subsequent scan revealed the disease had returned, manifesting in her abdomen. Nevertheless, she expressed intentions to press on with shows in February and March 2023.
Appearing on ITV's Lorraine, the comic shared how her colleague Jimmy Carr was instrumental in her decision to not give up on her tour despite the health battles, recounting the moment he encouraged her:

Moreover, Janey conveyed a poignant note from her daughter Ashley Storrie this January, filled with joy at marking another birthday post-diagnosis two years ago, noting how jubilant she felt.
Janey, who recently celebrated a day she never believed "would happen", took to X, previously known as Twitter, to share her daughter Ashley's heartfelt message with her 293,000 followers.
Ashley had penned on Facebook: "To the woman who birthed me. You made it another year. A year we didn't think we were going to get. And in amongst the sadness and the regrets and the fear look at what we did. Look at what we'll do."

Scottish comedian Janey Godley has cancelled her forthcoming tour amid ongoing treatment for terminal ovarian cancer.
Godley, 63, from Glasgow , who was due to embark on UK tour Why Is She Still Here? this autumn, was advised to stop working “for the foreseeable future” while in hospital being treated for sepsis.
A statement to the PA news agency said: “It is with huge sadness that we must announce the cancellation of Janey Godley’s autumn 2024 tour.
“Janey has been living with stage four ovarian cancer for the past few years and the treatment from the wonderful Scottish NHS has kept the disease at bay, but sadly in the last few weeks the cancer has returned and there have been a few added complications.
“Her doctors have now advised her that she must stop work for the foreseeable future.
“Janey is devastated to let down her thousands of loyal fans, and the wonderful venues, she has played many times over the years. She would like to thank everyone for their love and support at this difficult time.”
In a video posted to social media Godley revealed that she was in hospital where she had been treated for the life-threatening condition which causes the body to respond improperly to an infection.
“Hi everybody, as you’ll see in the news today we’ve had to cancel the tour”, she said.
“I’m really sorry. We sold thousands and thousands of tickets and there’s so many people employed and my poor bloody agent Chris has been magnificent.
“I’m in the hospital. I’ve been here for eight days, I had sepis as well, and my cancer team has advised me not to work again, just to try and get better.”
She added: “The sepsis is under control but the cancer is spreading so they’ve told me not to work.”
Godley thanked NHS Scotland and end of life charity Marie Curie and apologised to those who had bought tickets to her shows.
Godley, who found viral fame with her dubbed pastiches of Nicola Sturgeon’s coronavirus news briefings during the pandemic, revealed she had ovarian cancer in November 2021.
In 2022 the comedian was given the all-clear and said in a post to X that a scan showed “no evidence of disease”.
However, she later announced that another scan had shown signs of the disease in her abdomen but added that she would continue with her tour in February and March 2023.
Godley told ITV’s Lorraine that fellow comedian Jimmy Carr played a key role in convincing her to continue her tour despite her diagnosis.
She said: “I decided to cancel the tour, and my mate Jimmy Carr said, ‘Is your mouth not working?’. I went, ‘Yeah, my mouth works’ and he said, ‘Well get back on tour.'”
In a video she posted to social media last year, Godley said she had received scan results that showed the treatment she was on was keeping her terminal and incurable ovarian cancer “at bay”.
Earlier in the year, Godley performed dates across the country in towns and cities including Bristol, Epsom, Norwich and Milton Keynes.
Born in poverty in Glasgow in 1961, Godley went on to become a regular co-presenter on BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends, as well as fronting BBC Radio 4 series The C Bomb.
In 2023 the comedian became the winner of the inaugural Sir Billy Connolly Spirit of Glasgow Award at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival.
She faced controversy in 2021 after Scottish Government coronavirus adverts she featured in were pulled after offensive tweets by her came to light following an investigation by the Daily Beast website.
Godley profusely apologised for the tweets and donated the fee she was paid (£12,000) to charity.

Comedian Janey Godley has been forced to call off her tour while sharing disheartening news about her battle with incurable cancer. Hailing from Glasgow and aged 63, Janey was gearing up for her "Why Is She Still Here? " tour, set to traverse cities including London, Belfast, and Edinburgh.
However, medical advice from her doctors has led to the decision to halt her work "for the foreseeable future" as she battles sepsis. Regrettably, a statement about her career disclosed: "It is with huge sadness that we must announce the cancellation of Janey Godley's autumn 2024 tour."
Battling stage four ovarian cancer for the last few years, Janey had managed to keep it in check thanks to exceptional care from the Scottish NHS . But recent weeks have seen a distressing return of the illness as she said it was spreading, accompanied by additional complications.

Now, her doctors have strongly recommended she takes time off work, reports the Mirror .
"Janey is devastated to let down her thousands of loyal fans, and the wonderful venues, she has played many times over the years. She would like to thank everyone for their love and support at this difficult time," detailed a dispatch from the PA news agency.
In a recent update today, Janey shared that she's currently admitted in hospital being treated for sepsis, which thankfully has been brought "under control". Apologising for the necessity to cancel her autumn tour, the comedian expressed regret as she continues to contend with her health issues.
In a poignant social media video, the entertainer announced: "Hi everybody, as you'll see in the news today we've had to cancel the tour. I'm really sorry. We sold thousands and thousands of tickets and there's so many people employed and my poor bloody agent Chris has been magnificent."
Laid up in hospital, she continued: "I'm in the hospital. I've been here for eight days, I had sepsis as well, and my cancer team has advised me not to work again, just to try and get better. The sepsis is under control but the cancer is spreading, so they've told me not to work."
Janey had openly shared with her fans that she was battling ovarian cancer back in 2021, and the following year joyously announced on X, known previously as Twitter, that she had no signs of the illness following a scan. Yet, despite the all-clear given in 2022, she later informed her followers of a subsequent scan revealing the presence of the disease in her abdomen, resolved nonetheless to pursue her tour in February and March 2023.
During an appearance on ITV's Lorraine, the adored comedian shared how fellow comedian Jimmy Carr had a significant influence on her choice to push forward with her tour amid her health challenges. She recounted: "I decided to cancel the tour, and my mate Jimmy Carr said, 'Is your mouth not working? '.I went, 'Yeah, my mouth works' and he said, 'Well get back on tour.'"

About Janey Godley The ‘Not Dead Yet’ Tour
Janey Godley is ‘still alive, by popular demand’ with a brand-new show for 2023 and can’t wait to be back doing what she does best! Janey will be supported by Ashley Storrie, the award-winning comedian best known for hosting BBC Radio Scotland’s Friday nights, and guest slot on Breaking The News. A few words from Janey: My past year has been like a giant “Wordle” game that has swept the nation, I went from “cancel to cancer” in 6 weeks.
