Cheeky and Bondy LOVE golf, they don’t just love golf, they live it! Having played at least twice a week across Tasmania for twenty plus years. What this pair of local larrikins don’t know about Tasmanian golf courses, and all the other stuff golfers need, isn’t worth knowing.

No matter what you are looking for, be it a gorgeous green, hairy hole, bumpy back road, the place with the coldest beverages and the warmest beds, they know where to go!

Let the boys take the hassle (because there is no such thing as a problem) out of your next golfing experience. From one day to one week wherever you want to go in Tassie we can take you there. Package One: Southern five-day tour

Pick up from Hobart in our private, air-conditioned coach

Play 18 holes at each of the following courses:

Tasmania: Surrounded by water on three sides, the spectacular Tasmania Golf Club is situated on the picturesque Barilla Bluff.

Kingston: Tasmania’s southernmost 18-hole championship golf course. Abundant wildlife and views. Home to the unique inclinator – a small motorised carriage to haul your group and clubs up the hill to the 18 th!

Tasman: Located just 5 minutes from Port Arthur Historic Site and surrounded by tranquil bush and the spectacular sea cliffs of Point Puer.  Signature hole is No 8 124m Par 3 tee off over a 100 metre gorge from one cliff top to another. You have to clear the cliff to reach the green and must hit at least 100metres to do so.

Llanherne: this links type course features with gently undulating fairways. Two lakes and numerous bunkers add to the challenge.

Pittwater: Gently undulating fairways, easy walking, bunkers and lakes. This course borders on Orealton Lagoon which is a bird sanctuary. Many species of birdlife may be seen all year round.

Package Two: West to East Northern five-day tour

Pick up from Launceston in our private, air-conditioned coach

Ulverstone: Boasting a 6,160-metre par-72 championship golf course on the north coast of Tasmania. Set amongst a tall eucalypt forest and bordering the Leven River.

Devonport: Founded in 1921, it has hosted several Tasmanian Open Golf Championships with top players including Greg Norman gracing its links. Overlooking the Mersey River on a beautiful peninsula.

Launceston: Tasmania’s oldest 18 Hole Golf Course established in 1899. Tree lined fairways with well bunkered greens

Barnbougle Dunes:  Ranked in the top ten links courses winds through towering coastal dunes along one of Tasmania’s pristine beaches and the echo of crashing waves to truly present golfers with a true sea-side links experience

Lost Farm: Just a short pitching wedge across the river from The Dunes, lies Barnbougle’s second instalment – Despite Lost Farm’s close proximity to, The Dunes it is remarkably different, featuring 20-holes that wind along the coast and through the coastal dunes.

Package Three: Northern rural retreat 9 hole five-day tour

Greens Beach: A beautiful sand-belt playing conditions year-round. Great views and set in a lovely location adjacent to Bass Strait at the mouth of the Tamar River. The sixth is the signature hole, a par 3 that starts from an elevated tee that has fantastic views over Bass Strait.

Deloraine: Undulating with some hills. Grass greens and tees, three bunkers and four lakes.

Poatina:  W ith beautiful mountain views, located in Northern Tasmania. Nestled beneath the Western Tiers mountain range the course provides tranquil views of the mountains and surrounding farmland

Thirlstane: 18km east of Devonport on Squeaking Point Road, is found in the farming district of Thirlstane and is surrounded by natural bushland. Set in rural surroundings with flat fairways and par-3 that features a green situated between two lakes,

Quamby:  F eatures 9 lakes, cascades, creeks and challenging ‘Scottish’ bunkers beautifully groomed from specially refined Scottsdale sands. Sweeping views to Ben Lomond Mountain

Package Four: East Coast five-day tour

Play at each of the following courses:

Orford: a picturesque 9-hole course, with gently undulating fairways and well-groomed greens. There are scenic views of Maria island and the Mercury Passage from many fairways.

Swansea: Nestled on the East Coast of Tasmania overlooking the magnificent Freycinet National Park. Panoramic views of Great Oyster Bay. The beach and the sea form a number of boundaries. Surrounded by views. A perfect destination for a quiet round

Bicheno: Adjacent to the beach and surrounded by beautiful native trees. Abundant wildlife native parrots and Cape Barron Geese to name a few. Flat but challenging the course consists of 9 holes and both the course and greens are fully irrigated to provide excellent playing conditions all year ’round

Freycinet: Sitting at the foot of the granite mountains known as the Hazards on the edge of the world-renowned Freycinet National Park and Wineglass Bay. The course is a well wooded course with tight driving holes and several man-made lakes. added to this, the prevailing sea breeze can make this course quite a challenge. features views of the Swan River and Oyster Bay.

You’ll also tee off at golfing gems,  Launceston Golf Club  and  Tasmania Golf Club , and watch out for the signature 11th at  Royal Hobart Golf Club  with six bunkers surrounding the green!

Start your sojourn in the capital,  Hobart . Explore the city and discover the World Heritage listed Australian Convict Historic Site at  Port Arthur . The signature hole (18th) will have you hitting over (hopefully) the beach onto a stunning approach to the final hole. The Cape Wickham Lighthouse provides a welcome line of sight to most holes.

Arguably Southern Tasmania’s most picturesque golf course overlooking the famous Tasman Peninsula sea cliffs. The signature 8th holes has golfers tee off across a 100 metre chasm between cliffs!

Another coastal course overlooking the holiday township of Orford across to Maria Island. Visitors welcome to enjoy this scenic nine hole course.

Situated on the northern edge of the beautiful holiday town of Bicheno this is another nine hole course, but boasts 18 tees to offer an additional nine holes. Tree lined fairways and coastal breezes provide the usual challenges for all golfers.

The Ratho Farm Golf Links were first laid out and enjoyed by the pioneering Reid family, who emigrated from Scotland and settled Ratho in 1822. It is Australia’s oldest golf course, and the oldest remaining outside of Scotland. The Ratho Golf Links is a time capsule, among the best preserved of all the world’s early golf courses. Its most apparent uniqueness is the sheep, which graze and keep the playing areas short, with fences to keep them from the square greens.

Tasmanian Golf Experiences  has been created by Hobart locals John (JD) and Alix Davis. They're both passionate about sharing Tasmania with visitors and enabling you to experience our state's fabulous golf courses, incredible food and more.  JD is a member of Royal Hobart Golf Club. He's a keen golfer and has played at some of the world's top courses including St Andrews, Pebble Beach, Bandon Dunes, Lahinch, Royal Dornoch and of course as a local, Barnbougle and King Island many times.

Alix is a food and travel writer for publications including Gourmet Traveller, The Weekend Australian, The Mercury newspaper and Tourism Tasmania. She loves finding new food experiences and sharing them with friends, visitors and readers.

Tasmania is now home to four of the top five public golf courses in Australia, as rated by Golf Australia: Cape Wickham and Ocean Dunes , King Island , and Barn­bougle Dunes and Barnbougle Lost Farm , Bridport.

Plans are under way for at least another five premium courses across the state, including a $10 million transformation of an isolated peninsula, jutting into Hobart’s River Derwent, into one of the world’s few links courses ­almost surrounded by water.
