From our moorings on The Groves in Chester we head south, passing some spectacular homes and gardens as we make our way out of the city and into leafy Cheshire countryside. Upstream of Chester, the River Dee meanders through the Eaton Estate, the ancestral home of the Duke of Westminster. We make our turn at the picturesque Aldford Iron Bridge and then sail back downstream to the city.
This is a very tranquil stretch of the Dee with opportunities to spot wildlife, including swans, herons, cormorants, moorhens and kingfishers, so keep your camera ready! An informative sightseeing commentary will share interesting facts and stories about the river and its surroundings.
There is a fully stocked bar onboard, in case you would like to enjoy a hot or cold drink as we make our way upstream. You are more than welcome to bring a picnic with you to eat onboard, but please note that alcohol must be purchased from the onboard bar.
Cruises can sell out and we cannot guarantee a spot for you without a ticket or reservation, so don’t forget to book in advance. Please note that tickets are not refundable, although we would be happy to move your booking to another date if you can’t make it.
2024 Timetable
The two-hour cruise is a seasonal service with regular sailings from April to September, and occasional out of season sailings.
Please note that cruises are made available to book approximately 2-3 months in advance – if you are looking at a date more than 3 months in advance and cannot see any availability, please check again closer to the time.

Tickets are 10% cheaper when booked online (compared to quayside/over the phone)
Quayside prices are subject to availability as tickets sometimes sell out in advance – please book online to guarantee a place
Adult – £17.10 online / £19.00 on the quayside
Concession (student / 60+ / disabled passenger) – £16.65 online / £18.50 on the quayside
Child (5-15) – £7.20 online / £8.00 on the quayside
Family (2 adults/concessions and up to 3 children) – £44.10 online / £49.00 on the quayside
Carer accompanying disabled passenger – £7.20 online / £8.00 on the quayside

A must when visiting Chester 2014. ChesterBoat offer a choice of 1/2 hour or 2 hour cruises at affordable prices. From the minute you walk onto the boat you are in safe hands with an experienced crew on board. All boats have a fully stocked bar on board and toilets.
We always have a boat trip while in Chester down the river Dee, lovely sunny day did the 1/2 hour boat trip mid week cosy £7.50 per adult worth every penny. Good compare/captain with automated things on the river of interest. Would recommend a trip then sat on side of river with an ice cream watching World 🌎 go byeeeee. Definitely a 5*

In Chester for long weekend always head to the River Dee for a boat trip, we sat watching the boats perfect weather then boarded for a trip down the river Dee, £9 per adult well worth the trip great commentary very knowledgeable and all thoroughly enjoyed it. It was very busy but we didn't have to wait long at all as one boat left another came.

My poor review relates to some issues once the boat ride had concluded. Whilst docking we noticed that the Chester tour bus was parked up opposite the jetty. The member of staff on the Chester Boat informed us that if you had booked a ride on the boat you could upgrade your tickets to include the Chester Bus tour for an additional fee.

Firstly, the boat trip is fantastic. Really good fun and worth the money. My young children loved it. My poor review relates to some issues once the boat ride had concluded. Whilst docking we noticed that the Chester tour bus was parked up opposite the jetty.
