Overall, the Koleshwar Plateau trek offers a rewarding and unforgettable experience for nature lovers and adventure seekers. With its stunning scenery, diverse landscapes, and peaceful atmosphere, it’s a hidden gem in the Sahyadri range.
The Koleshwar Plateau trek, located near Wai and Mahabaleshwar, is a lesser-known but scenic trekking destination in the Sahyadri ranges!
Koleshwar plateau is a beautiful and relatively untouched plateau that provides us with one of the best combinations of forest, rocks, bushes, & trails. The plateau is named after the ancient Koleshwar Temple located at the top of the plateau. It is a peaceful and secluded temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. On the large top, few families stay isolated from modern life.
Koleshwar is a huge mountain plateau that stretches as long as Mahabaleshwar. Trek to this plateau offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Western Ghats, including the Dhom Dam, Kamalgad Fort, and the Krishna River. The trail goes through patches of dense forests, open grasslands, and rocky patches, offering diverse terrain for trekkers.
The trek is especially beautiful during the monsoon or post-monsoon season when the landscape is lush green, and waterfalls are in full flow. The weather is cool and pleasant, making it a great time for trekking.
This trek is perfect for those looking for a quiet and less crowded trek in the Western Ghats while exploring the natural beauty and spiritual essence of the area.

The perfect trekking organisation, I had been with them from Rajgad to Torna trek last weekend. The complete trek was very well organised, both the trek leads were calm and composed when we had certain last minutes challenges. They are also completely aware of proper food and water points which matters precisely for long-distance treks in Sahaydri. One request I would like to make is, to get the latest update of the trekking route through their network before the trek, to avoid last minutes hiccups!
