The 5 Best Wine Tours From Paris, France [2024 Reviews]

Over the years, Paris has been known as many things – the city of lights, the city of love, and the fashion capital of the world. Well, France’s capital city is all that and much more. It is no wonder that it is such a popular international travel destination or that it’s one of the most populated cities in the European Union.

Overall, there are a ton of things Paris is known for, but one very Parisian thing that we all know and love is wine! Starting with the colonization of Southern Gaul by the Greek Settlers and then expanded by The Roman Empire licensing several French regions for wine production, French wine has a long history.

It was during the Middle Ages that monks primarily maintained the French vineyards and continued to pass down their skills and knowledge throughout the generations. Eventually, nobility came to develop extensive areas of vineyards for wine production.

Of course a lull within the wine industry was inevitable as The French Revolution led to many vineyards previously owned by the Church to be taken. A devastating blow to the industry caused by the spread of mildew occurred in the 19th century, but still didn’t destroy the Parisian love of wine.

Nearly any parisian would agree that your trip to their fair city would be incomplete without a proper wine tasting. Add some cheeses, breads, and pastries to your tour for even more Parisian culinary delights!

1. paris: wine museum guided tour with wine tasting.

  • Duration: 1 hour
  • Choose 3 wines to taste
  • Expert sommelier guide
  • Tour former King of France’s wine cellars

Back in the 18th century, King Louis XV had a sommelier named Trudon. He had the incredible idea of building a mansion with an intricate network of tunnels in underground caves. Extending as far as the Louvre museum, these tunnels provided the perfect discreet method of supplying the palace with wine.

Thus, Les Caves du Louvre was born – even if it wasn’t always called that. The royal wine cellar has since been renovated and opened to the public. Now, Les Caves du Louvre offers a wonderful museum tour with wine tasting included!

It’s the perfect option for anyone hoping to get some extra special history with their Paris wine tasting. During your tour, you will be guided by an expert sommelier. They will teach you all about the various French grapes and the wine regions of France.

This is very much a sensory experience that will stimulate and engage all 5 of your senses. Games and videos help to fully immerse you into the tour and make learning about wine fun and easy! In addition to the tour of the former king’s wine cellars, you will, of course, get to taste some delectable wine!

Near the end of the tour, you will be given the opportunity to choose for yourself three different wines to try. Your sommelier guide will teach you important tasting techniques to help enhance the experience. Each week, there are different wines available to choose from for tasting.

The entire tour is highly interactive and keeps all guests engaged. You can even download the companion app to help further add to the tour experience. You will meet with your group directly at Les Caves du Louvre and you can expect the tour to last right at the one-hour mark.

More Information & Tour Booking

100% refund for cancellations within 24 hours of tour experience, 2. paris: french wine tasting class with sommelier.

  • Duration: 1.5 hours
  • 5 different wines to taste
  • Artisanal cheeses and breads paired with wines

Offered by O Chateau, this wine tasting includes a parisian lunch with delicious cheese and wine pairings throughout the experience. O Chateau isn’t your run-of-the-mill wine company. It first got up and running back in 2004 making the company nearly 20 years old.

Started by some guys named Oliver and Nicolas, O Chateau is all about making wine fun and really just being a super laid back and cool company.

Located just a few minutes from the Louvre Museum, O Chateau is right at the center of Paris. Your English-speaking sommelier is chosen just as much for their personality as their knowledge of wine helping guarantee a fun and interesting lunch.

They will take the time to teach you various facts about French grapes, regions, and wines. The leisurely lunch begins right at noon and lasts around an hour and a half. You will be sitting down in a stunning room around a large table where you will be served various wines, cheeses, and breads.

During the lunch, you will try a total of five different French wines including one champagne choice. The presentation will be primarily about the wine, but you will also get some delectable food pairings namely different artisan cheeses.

The sommelier will explain why each pairing works so well and how pairing different options together creates a different result. They will teach you things like how to read a French wine label as well as how to choose and pair wines with food.

3. Paris Wine and Cheese Lunch

  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Expert sommelier presentation
  • Champagne tasting included

Here is another wine tasting option from the company O Chateau. While this wine tasting shares many similarities to the previous O Chateau choice, there are a few key differences. This is an actual Tasting Class compared to a more casual lunch.

You will delve more into the education side of things as you learn in depth information about how to identify wine and compare tastes. This class is a lot like taking a virtual tour of the various French wine regions. You will get to learn about each region individually and how terroir and appellation affect wine flavors.

Not sure what terroir and appellation actually are? No worries! Your sommelier will go over all of that in a way that makes it all super easy to understand.

You will learn what makes each wine region unique plus things like how to properly read and understand French wine labels. You will also leave the tour with a much better understanding on how to best pair wine with food. You will get to taste one champagne as well as 4 other French wines during the class.

In addition to the wines, you will also get pairing recommendations that include artisan cheeses and breads to try with the various wine varieties.

The class and tasting last a total of 2 hours, but O Chateau also has a brand new wine bar and you are more than welcome to stay after the class for a yummy dinner and even more wines to try! In total, O Chateau offers 40 different wines each day.

4. Paris: Wine and Cheese Tasting

  • 3 different wines to taste
  • Artisanal local cheese pairings
  • Water and bread also offered

Meeting the French is a relatively young company that has seen a ton of growth and success over the last decade. They now offer a wide variety of services and pride themselves on their ability to take care of every aspect of your trip to France from transportation, hotels, activities, and of course, wine tasting.

This particular offering from them includes an hour and a half long informative session that features several wine tastings. This session is organized and hosted by a wine expert sommelier. They will tailor the tasting experience to your specific group making this a more personalized experience.

Wines are proposed based on your interests and desires. In total, you will try three different French wines each one from a small, independent wine producer. This helps guarantee each guest gets to experience something new as well.

Each wine will be paired with both a hard cheese as well as soft cheese option. This gives you a chance to explore how different combinations create different flavors. Plus, all the cheese is from a local artisanal cheese shop further adding to the authentic French experience.

In addition to the wines and cheeses, there will be bread and water available making for a perfect palette cleanser between tastings. While the wine and cheese is certainly the star of the show, you will also be learning a ton about French history and why French wine comes in such a diverse variety.

You will learn tasting techniques, get common terms clarified, and get a great overview of regional maps and even things like soil samples to help understand wine better in general. You will also get the chance to ask any questions you may have to the very passionate oenologists AKA wine experts of Meeting the French.

On this Champagne Tasting and Lunch day trip, your driver-guide will transport you from Paris to the famous town of Epernay in the Champagne region where you'll spend the day sipping and comparing eight different Champagnes, enjoying a delicious French lunch, and participating in a Champagne Master class held (weather permitting) in the heart of a vineyard.  You'll also learn how the terroir (soil) and climate in this region create the perfect conditions for producing this special beverage.

What's special:  You'll visit three very different Champagne houses:  A world-famous one, plus a mid-sized and a small family-owned one.  This gives you the chance to compare the tastes of all the different beverages and decide which is your favorite.  As a bonus, you can also buy bottles to take back to Paris.

Bonus:  Getting to see the beautiful countryside and vineyards as your driver takes you around the area.

"This was absolutely amazing!  Drank lots of lovely champagne and had a great day with our guide. Loved the lunch with champagne pairings."

8.  Compare Beer vs Wine on the "Bastille Bites" Tour

See if you can spot the glass of beer in this photo of this popular brasserie in Place de la Bastille!

Did you know that the Paris region is home to numerous small producers of excellent craft beer?   C'est vrai!   You'll get to try some of the best on the Paris Craft Beer Tasting Tour.

What you'll do:  With your expert guide/craft beer enthusiast, you'll stroll through Parisian neighborhoods as you sample brews at three different craft breweries on this small-group tour.  Along the way, you'll also sample snacks of charcuterie and cheese.

Bonus #1 : You'll learn a bit about the interesting but mostly overlooked history of beer in France.

Bonus #2 - You'll pass through interesting parts of Paris, and will discover some great beer-focused bars to return to on your own.

Bonus #3 - Did we mention the excellent beer and food?

"Fantastic guide and experiences!  Loved all the places we visited, and can't wait to go back!!!"

9.  Take a French Wine Tasting Class with an Expert Sommelier

Enjoying a tasting in a popular Paris wine bar

During the French Wine Tasting Class with Sommelier experience, you'll savor wines from different French regions as you learn what makes each area and its wine unique, how to taste wine properly to detect the subtle flavors and nuances, and how Champagne is made.  A basket of bread is available to help you clear your palate between courses.

What may surprise you:  How different the wines are from each other, once you get tuned into how to really taste them and "read" their subtle tones and notes.

Bonus:   You'll learn how to read French wine labels, understand the meaning of concepts like terroir and appelation, and tell the difference between wines from Sancerre and Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhone.  Get ready to impress your friends!

Already know these things?  Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the different wine selections - they're really good!

"Sublime.  A highlight of our trip to Paris."

  • Complimentary French bread

So if you’re looking for a wine tour in Paris, you can trust that I know what I am talking about because I’ve done a number of tours myself; spoiler alert: they were all incredibly fun and knowledgeable.

Need more details than just one to compare for yourself? Then read on to discover the best 4 wine tasting tours in Paris.

Best Wine tasting Tours in Paris

Whether you’re looking for something casual in a bar or with a professional sommelier to learn all the basics of wine tasting, this post will give you 4 of the best wine tasting tours in Paris! I’ve done a number of them myself and I personally vetted the others to make sure they’re worthy of adding to this list!

1. Wine Museum Guided Tour with Wine Tasting

Paris wine tasting tour with sommelier

  • 🌟 Rating: 4.6/5
  • ⏳ Tour Length: 1 hour
  • ✅ Click here to check rates and availability

As a country that is known for wine, you can’t travel to its capital and not taste wine! And while you can taste it anywhere in the city, tasting it from a cellar of a former French King will make it even more special.

On this wine tour , you’ll learn how to taste wine like a pro, learn how to differentiate wines from different regions, and also learn about the different grapes and wine regions of France.

But beyond just tasting wine, what I loved the most about this Paris wine tour is that the sommelier was very knowledgeable, friendly, and always eager to answer questions and you could see his passion for wine come through! This to me is what makes the entire experience even more enjoyable.

The tour also includes engaging activities like smelling wine corks to see if you can tell the kinds of flavors included in that specific wine!

me smelling a wine cork in a wine cellar | best wine tasting tours in Paris

Although the tour is not designed for children 18 and below, there was a family in my group that had a teenager and the tour was able to accommodate her by providing “alcohol-free wine”.

The only downside to this Paris wine-tasting tour is that it’s just one hour so the tour ended when I was still eager to learn more about wine! But if you consider its affordability and what you learn, it’s well worth it!

And at the end of the tour when I wanted to buy a bottle to take home, the sommelier recommended a very good bottle of wine based on what I told him I wanted!

Guest Review: “ Very interesting and educational tour, the guide was very friendly interesting, and genuinely passionate about what he was speaking about. It was a small group so was really nice to be able to ask questions. I would return next time and try the “specialist” wines! ” — Emily. You can read more reviews here !

2. French Wine Tasting Class with Sommelier

me wine tasting in Paris

  • 🌟 Rating: 4.8/5
  • ⏳ Tour Length: 2 hours

Since the above Paris wine tasting tour is just one hour, you might want something longer to fully enjoy the widely celebrated French wine! If that’s you, then you will no doubt enjoy this tour !

For 2 hours, an expert sommelier will take you on a journey to discover French wines and the various wine regions and explain to you why certain wines taste the way they do, plus the types of grapes each wine region uses.

You’ll also learn how to read a wine label so the next time you go wine shopping, you’ll know exactly what to look for and what makes a wine a good wine!

Unlike the previous Paris wine tour that has only 3 tastings, this one has 5 wines including champagne and complimentary French bread.

After your tasting, if you still want to indulge more, you can stay at Ô Chateau Wine Bar and taste more wines while enjoying a French meal.

Guest Review: “ We were looking for something to do and came across this experience. We are so glad we selected it. The sommelier knows a lot about the industry having started out planting vines. The staff members were fantastic and the wines were delicious. We highly recommend this experience. Be sure to order the wine and cheese boards offered when you check in. ” — Kelley. You can read more reviews here !

3. Paris Wine and Cheese Tasting Tour

Wine & Cheese are some of the famous foods in Paris

  • 🌟 Rating: 4.9/5
  • ⏳ Tour Length: 1.5 hours

If there is one thing the French have mastered is wine and there is no better companion than cheese — a specialty that’s a close second when it comes to things Paris is known for, and France in general for that matter!

This particular Paris wine tasting tour is offered by the same company as the tour I mentioned above, so you can be sure that the service will be exceptional in both!

The only difference is that instead of just tasting 5 wines and bread, you’ll also be able to taste a variety of French cheese. So if you’re looking for a wine and cheese tasting in Paris, look no further than this one!

You’ll get tips on how to pair wine with different foods and cheese from a professional sommelier and why that pairing works better than another.

Guest Review: “An excellent tour that was both educational and delicious! Getting to try the 5 wines and complimenting cheeses was great and also the extra tips from our sommelier were really helpful. It was a good mix of sparkling, white, red and even a dessert wine with a range of very tasty cheeses. A massive thank you to our guide Lily who was very entertaining and went over and above with her knowledge and guidance on wine and cheese pairings! Highly recommended!” — Katie. You can read more reviews here !

4. Paris Day Trip to Champagne with 8 Tastings & Lunch

vineyards and landcape in Champagne region france - 1

  • ⏳ Tour Length: 10 – 11 hours

Tasting wine in Paris is an incredible experience but if you want to take your experience to the next level, then I recommend booking this champagne tasting day trip from Paris to one of the famous French wine regions, Champagne. In my opinion, it’s one of the best wine tours from Paris.

One of the things I love about this tour is that they pick you up directly from your hotel, as long as it’s centrally located in Paris.

From there, you’ll be taken in a minivan to the Champagne region and visit one of the most-known champagne houses including the world-famous Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, and more where you’ll learn about the entire wine-making process and some interesting facts and history of champagne.

You’ll also be able to walk and taste wine right in the vineyard — an experience that is worth every penny if you ask me!

And since lunch is included in this Paris wine tasting tour, you’ll be able to taste some of the most famous French food too.

You’ll basically have it all! Taste over 8 champagnes and visit local and family-run vineyards and world-famous champagne houses all while enjoying a beautiful vineyard landscape view as you drive in the minivan.

And by the end of the trip, you’ll probably be a little bit tipsy or have learned a lot about champagne and wine making.

Guest Review: “Preston our tour guide was excellent! He went above and beyond to make our experience just perfect!! Extremely knowledgeable and warm and engaging with our small group- and all 3 wineries were fantastic- large and small scale wineries- lunch was amazing- winery staff wonderful- and of course the Champagne was perfection!! Recommend this highly!!” — Lisa. You can read more reviews here !

NEVER TRAVEL TO PARIS WITHOUT TRAVEL INSURANCE One of the biggest mistakes you’ll ever make when planning a trip to Paris is to forego Travel Insurance !
